NYPD Commissioner rails against community leaders for silence after week where 77 people shot

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly demanded Tuesday to know why the community leaders who rail against stop-and-frisk policies haven’t led demonstrations against the gun violence exploding this summer.

“There doesn’t seem to be any major community response,” Kelly said.

“Many of them will speak out about stop-and-frisk” but are “shockingly silent when it comes to the level of violence right in their own communities,” he said. Seventy-seven people were shot in New York last week during the heat wave, including a 3-year-old winged by crossfire as he played under a sprinkler in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

“We have not had a demonstration about this 3-year-old child,” Kelly told reporters at an event in Harlem. “We've had demonstrations about virtually every other issue in this city, except the level of violence.”

Guns don't shoot themselves. Let's see the demographics of the shooters and victims. How many were justified self-defense? How many were use of a firearm to facilitate a crime e.g. murder, robbery, rape? The phrase "gun violence" gives away the agenda of the author.

rat city councilman peter vallone jr was on TV Monday morning saying the police have their hands tied as they no longer do “stop and frisk”...he also blamed the lax immigration policies of obama for the recent crime wave in NY...

S&F in the ‘rat cities makes a lot more sense than most gun control law enforcement.

Ironic isn’t it. All the big gun control cities have the highest number of shootings and murders with guns. Let’s see, police have guns in these cities and the police auxiliaries (gangs and mobs) have guns in these cities, but only the unarmed citizen victims don’t have guns. So when the wars between the elements of the corrupt governments flare up, it is only the unarmed citizen victims that have no way to defend themselves. Hoover and Elliot Ness did not eradicate the mobs, they just forced them to transform, which they did, they became the city and state governments!

Kelly should just tell all the Comm Leaders that “a white hispanic guy named Zimmerman” killed all 77...and he would then hear an outcry

Just more of the total hypocrasy from so called “civil rights” groups

It’s the same in a city near me; not nearly the size of New York. There are several Black on Black shootings nearly every day. The shootings are dutifully listed by location in the news media; yet no suspects are ever named, apprehended or charged; at least not as reported in the news. Eyewitnesses when interviewed never seem to see the perpetrator.

These people KNOW who has done these shootings and refuse to identify them. The occasional child or elderly person who gets caught in the crossfire are just “casualties of the hood” to them and not worth fingering one of their own. The only people who can help Blacks at this point are Blacks themselves. It’s high time that they stopped blaming everyone else for their problems and started doing something about them themselves. Brother O’Bama and Reverend Al don’t seem to be contributing much moral support on those fronts.
