Yes, I had to deal with them directly. Normally, the fire dept rescue guys come and lock the gate in the open position, but this was a recovery mission so they just needed access to the park. Most of the mission came from the lake patrol, but some was by land.

The media sent several vans / SUVs with reporters, including the live TV trucks with satellite equipment. Some of the gals had on high heels to wear on the limestone cliffs with sand beaches. One little Hispanic looking reporter had one of those “Don’t bend over” skirts to boot.

Our ever ready media....one would think if they got called to a lake, any lake, they would have more sense. But then again, they ARE the media.

Nothing like a little, well, not so little, excitement after only a little bit on the job. I am sure you handled everything with the utmost professionalism and aplomb.
