"...A pro-gun group claims it flipped the script on Chicago's firearms buyback program by selling old, broken rifles to the city and then using the money to buy guns and ammo for an NRA-sponsored shooting camp for kids..."

“The police never fail to amuse/amaze. I wonder (yes, just thinking out loud here) why they were so upset. Was it b/c theyre taking these for their own??? I know, I know theyd NEVER do such a thing. LOL...”
I’m always amazed how some FReepers can turn just about anything into a cop bashing post or thread. I assume you called them “pigs” in the 60’s while you protested the war.
Astonishing.
Liberal cities have tough gun laws but the young ghetto thugs seem to have no problem getting their hands on them, what gives?
“..I assume you called them pigs in the 60s while you protested the war...”
Umm...I wasn’t even a teenager in the 60’s. No, I don’t call them “pigs”. Not all of them are on the wrong side. But some of them sure as hell are.
And I DO resent the abuse of authority and abuse of the power that we grant them, and some of them attempt - especially political-appointee thugs the one in Philly.
And it isn’t “cop bashing”. It’s Gun Control bashing, and anybody that espouses disarming law abiding citizens through stupid schemes like these SHOULD be publicly ridiculed and “bashed”, as you say.
And if cops go along with it, rather than going after REAL criminals - like, say, go into “da hood” and try disarming gang bangers, instead of worrying about stupid gun buyback schemes (tell me...how do you “buy back” something you didn’t buy in the first place?), maybe they’d actually make the cities a little safer.
But hey...this is “cop bashing” so never mind.
Enlighten us. What is it about the post that astonishes you.
For the record I’d never call them pigs, JBT perhaps but never pigs. In the 60s I was only a kid unconcerned about the hippies. Nice try tho to label, it missed the mark.
