whenever governmetn tried to ‘fix’ housing and make it more affordable, the peopoe usually end up paying more for less...
Nothing like cornered 'rats.
if it is so sensible, why is the government funding it? If there was a need, if the government got rid of regulations and allowed developers to do it, it would flourish, if it was supposed to.
Can I get more “boom” out my subwoofer in one of these?
Slave Quarters.
You can do a lot with a tiny floor plan. I’m fond of http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/
I’ve got overalls that big.
This is not a bad idea. When I was young and working in New York, all I needed was a bed, bathroom and very small kitchen area. I was rarely in the apartment. Of course, they’ll find a way to charge a fortune for these too.

This is an announcement from Genetic Control:
“It is my sad duty to inform you of a four foot restriction on
humanoid height.”
[Extract from coversation of Joe Ordinary in Local Puborama]
“I hear the directors of Genetic Control have been buying all the
properties that have recently been sold, taking risks oh so bold.
It’s said now that people will be shorter in height,
they can fit twice as many in the same building site.
(they say it’s alright),
Our 33 foot Travel Trailer is about 300 sq.ft. My wife and I and two dogs and two cats get along just fine for 3 months of the year when we travel. Our regular home is 2100 sq.ft. and it is fine too.
If all you need is a bed, a bathroom, a kitchenette and a place to eat/work, then 300 sq. ft. is fine. For reference, I visualized it as the same size of a hotel unit I was in for a vacation, and came out about perfect, as that was 314 sq. ft. once I looked it up. While it was crowded, that contained two double beds, a small table, and a full-sized bathroom. Swap in a queen for the two double beds (get even more space by going for a pullman-style bed option or perhaps a futon/sofa bed) and shoehorn in a kitchenette, and it would be livable, though not luxurious by any means. Plenty enough for 1 or 2 people who don’t plan on entertaining or hang around the house a lot.
The problem with the free market comments above is that NYC doesn’t have a free market for housing.
Yeah, you could prolly get into one for less than $2,000 per month.
My workshop has more sg ft, but hey... if ya gotta life in NYC...
The Soviets promised every citizen nine square meters of living space in 1918.
When the wall came down they had still failed to deliver on that.
That’s a 20 x 15 room. The bath needs to be at least 6 x 5 leaving you with 270 sf. Then a closet would take 3 x 2, leaving you with 264sf. So now you’re surrounded by Marxists, paying the highest rate of taxes in the country, in one of the most vulnerable to terror attacks cities in the country and your
“escape” every evening after a 10 hour day at work is to a 264sf government subsidized sh**hole. Sounds awesome!
A standard two-car garage is 400 sf. It’s not that small.

Almost all of mankind’s problems can be traced to living too close together.
