What a day/night for me to lose electricty (again) after another t-storm yesterday!

For how long?

When I moved to the boonies, the power tended to bit a bit, shall we say, unreliable as compared to the city.

After my second long outage in the winter time, I decided I'd best have some backup.

An 8500 watt unit in the barn allows almost normal life until whatever is broke is fixed.

I'm almost at the end of the line - only 3 people further than me.

I was patiently waiting one time, almost ready to fire up the generator, when my D-I-L came by.

She informed me that it was MY tree that had taken out the line!

Since then, the power company took down a lot of suspect trees for me.

This time it was out for 6 hours I should buy a generator. I love living near the military park where it is a forest of trees, during t-storms, when our grid is almost always the casualty. I live in the historical area, where our street is lined with 100+ year old trees and all of our yards have the same age trees. Once in a while a neighbor loses a a branch and there goes the power. We all have the tree trimmer every other year to look for dead branches.
