Part One: The Opportunity
The Political Cudgel--and the Embedded Nail
The Supreme Courts Obamacare-affirming decision--which can be summed up as Read John Roberts lips, its a tax--has put a political cudgel in the hands of Republicans. The cudgel, of course, is taxes. But a huge nail is also embedded in the cudgel: the fundamental deceit of Obamacare. Yet in the week since the Courts decision, Republicans have yet to demonstrate that they truly grasp the significance of this weapon--or that they can effectively wield it.
Why? Some Republicans are worried that the fight over Obamacare distracts from the issue of the economy. What these Republicans fail to realize is that healthcare and the economy are inextricably linked; Americans now realize that Obamacare was a detour on the road to economic recovery, so to remind them of one is to remind them of the other. And the two issues, compounded, are all the more powerful.
Other Republicans believe that the healthcare battle has been lost, that Obamacare is just another permanent ratcheting of the welfare state. What these Republicans fail to see is that the ObamaTax issue provides an opportunity to reignite healthcare into the white-hot issue that it was in 2010. And if the 2012 elections were to be a repeat of 2010, huge changes in the status quo would be not only possible, but inevitable.
This November, if President Obama goes before the voters on the defensive--that is, on a rickety platform of defending Obamacare as a tax increase--it is he who has a huge problem.

He hates Obama, and specifically the Obama Chicago Mafia WH team.
Caddell is on the record as saying NSA Tom Donolan is a political hack and the big info leaker, and that Donolan's threaten national security.
NOTE: THIS IS AN EXCERPT OF A LONG ARTICLE BUT VERY WELL WORTH IT. PLEASE GO TO LINK. IT IS PART OF OUR BLUEPRINT FOR VICTORY IN NOVEMBER)
MB26: Yes, this is a MUST READ article
Mitt is getting plenty of advice from folks like Krauthammer, Will, Brooks etc. etc. he has a business hsitory at Bain and yet he does not remember the pounding Clinton did on Dole that ahd that race over before the convention. He does not seem to think “average people” would send hundreds of millions if it would get rid of Obambi, so he plays a fools game - waiting. He is not nearly as smart as the “business community” makes him appear. Look at how long it took him to be good at the debates...I rest the case for the conservtives who are unhappy.
Thanks for the ping. I read the article. The money line is: “Republicans have yet to demonstrate that they truly grasp the significance of this weapon—or that they can effectively wield it.”
“He is not nearly as smart as the business community makes him appear.”
Amen to that! Last week I delighted to seeing/hearing Monica Crowley speaking on cspan about her new book which, along with David Limbaugh’s, is one of the most honest, outspoken books out right now that minces no words about BHO’s purposeful destruction of America. She was great in every way EXCEPT when it came to her enthusiasm about Romney being a “stellar opponent”. She went on about how “really brilliant” he is.
Then it was only a few days later than she was lamenting (and questioning why) that Mittens hadn’t come out swinging right after Roberts’ decision on Obamacare and that the mandate is a tax.
Well, duh. I love ya, Monica, but Mittens is NOT brilliant (at least not in his run against BHO so far) and he seems to lack the necessary guts.
Rush went on at some length today about he’d better be just as ruthless as he was against Newt, Santorum and his fellow Republicans in the primaries. He said MR needs to FORGET what color, how “nice” etc., BHO is, and start hitting back as soon and hard as possible on the Wan’s destructive policies and actions.
Obama loves to argue about issues. He can double-talk his way to such confusion, he wins.
Congressman Allen West is putting the focus where it should be: a debate about individual freedom versus slavery to big government--in other words, a debate about principles and ideas, and the consequences of two sets of ideas.
America's founding ideas lead to freedom for individuals, constitutional chains on government power, opportunity, innovation, prosperity (wealth) and plenty.
Obama's redistribution ideas lead to are higher taxes (taking of the people's earnings), power grabs like so-called "Obamacare," and destruction of jobs and the economy.
So-called "progressives" and Obama are not armed with ability to win in the "principles" debate. History is not on their side, and neither are the facts.
If Romney is to win, then he and his surrogates need to understand and articulate what West understands and articulates. It's as simple as that!
I love Caddell - he’s extremely smart AND fair.
Not only is it obvious he despises BHO and what he’s doing to our country, but it’s also pretty plain that he’s sad about what his party has become.
Yes, a lie crystallizes. And not all the soft pedalling and twisting and redirecting can stop its exposure, if its time has come.
But Good Lord, how determined so many are to make the effort to the bitter end!
So. Be. It.
So Romney must wield that cudgel, and wield it hard. And so must Republicans, because if the campaign against Obamacare--the ObamaTax--is to be truly effective, it must be a top-to-bottom message. Indeed, as we shall see, the anti-ObamaTax message could be even stronger for down-ballot Republicans than for Romney himself.
one trouble for Mitt seems to be that all the good advice is not getting through very often. He fights sometimes and then like Ali he retreats and waits and waits - the trouble is this is not fight where one blow wins - this is a marathon.
Translation - the GOP has no intention of repealing ObamaTax. They are truly a bunch of nutless wonders.
Ya’ll are being waaaay to hard on the Myther.
He killed off the real conservatives in the race because he isn’t one. He actually disagreed with them. Things like abortion, religious liberty, patriotism, military service, capitalism, small government, etc.
On the other hand, omney agrees with Obama, provided the socialist/Marxist healthcare template for him, and then threw in his own consultants to show him how to redistribute the wealth to fund the damn thing nationally.
Including how to force feed the Catholic Church missions and hospitals abortion services and forced coverage.
Naturally Romney has little to say against what he is obviously FOR.
Heck, Mitt should be running the Obama campaign and squeeze out Bide for VP.
I think more than a few Democrats are distressed at what their party has become — as they should be.
Yes, to be effective, this must be a top-to-bottom message by all Republicans.
I wish I could combine my replies on this issue over the last week or so.
It's like he is reading my mind.
Thanks for the ping!
Oh, so lying isn't against your principals principles.
Got it! Thanks for clearing that up.
