Suspicious.......Yes, Illegal.........No. Keep your eyes open and your gun handy.
...or he is just an innocent guy who was coming by to give his friend a ride to work and got the wrong house.
Maybe someone going around the ‘hood collecting used lead for recycling?
they were walking the neighborhood probably ringing bells to see who works and who is at home. Thank the lord mostly people always at home where I live.
That being said, why o earth did you open up? Just say “what?” through the glass to someone you don’t know or aren’t expecting.
I’m sure you already know this, but next time you answer your door, do it w/ gun in hand......with a bellowing WTF do you want?
Also, I would contact my neighbors and tell them what happened.
I’d report it. And not because of the weirdo’s race.
It is totally out of the ordinary for a stranger to ring your bell at 7:15 am. His behavior with his shirt/arms is also weird. Suppose you had been a frail old lady or a young mom at home and answered the door?
Also, it is obvious they were not looking for “Jasmine.”
Your report may help them to get a description going if any burglaries or worse occur in the area.
YES! The police are good for a few things and this is one of them.
They can patrol and find these two, ask them who & where this “Jasmin” person is, her last name, her purported address, and otherwise collect ID and run a warrants check.
If correct answers are not forthcoming I think things would get a bit edgy right there
The old ploy goes something like this: They ring the doorbell to make sure nobody is home. If someone answers, they ask if someone is home. You say the person doesn’t live there and they leave. But if nobody answers they break in and rob you.
MarkTwain has posted a lot of articles about armed people who don’t answer the door and then when thy guys break in they get shot and/or killed.
Sadly, I can’t advise you on that except to recommend you install a perimeter fence and a lock so no one can come ring your doorbell ever again.
For the last 10 years I haven’t lived where anyone could approach the front door. We also have large dogs (XTRA LARGE GREAT DANES) and a yappy little hound mutt to bark like nuts if someone even tries the gate.
Any area that is open to public to walk up to, is too easy a target. 1911 aside, that is a later layer of defense of the home in this day and age.
Next time it happens, don’t answer the door but go down with your 1911 aimed at the door. When they break in, ensure they never come back.
It certainly does look suspicious and they were probably up to no good.
I guess it is possible they were looking for Jasmine but I would guess not.
You should have shot him and told police he attacked you.
Had that happen to me once. Figured the guy was casing as well. So when he asked for “Jasmine” or whoever, I changed the name up on on him. I said “Are you sure you have the right address? Where does Yolanda live, maybe I can point you to the right house. Or just tell me the address you are looking for.” He basicly said no thanks and turned to leave. I told him that I would be happy to go down to my friends house who was a deputy - I’m sure that he would know where their address was located or at the very least I could go down to the neighborhood watch block captain and he would know.
Of course the guy passed and got into his car and left the neigborhood rather quickly.

Best black and tan security system I ever owned
I always carry a loaded 1911 to the front door when answering the doorbell. It don’t care if it’s a preacher or the mailman.
Years ago, at about 11:30 PM I was awakened by the door bell. There were four boys there outside asking if my daughter was there....boy, I’ll tell you I screamed so many obscenities and told them if I opened the door, they’d better be outrunning some lead. I then told them to “get the f@ck out of my yard” Had the 1911, had the mad and I would have shot someone at the first sign of trouble.
I quizzed my daughter - didn’t know them, so she said. I told her one or more would get dead if they did it again.
Months later I woke up on a Saturday morning. Driveway (500 feet long) was TP’d up in the trees in the first 200 ft from the road. They didn’t dare try it where I could see them.
I have a sign by my door that says:
Our S-10 truck is not for sale
We mow our own yard
We do not buy anything from anyone who knocks on our door
We don’t wish to list our house with a realtor
We’re not converting to another Religious Denomination
Gues I need to add:
We don’t know anyone named Jasmine
Also, if someone I don’t know still knocks, I open the door with my left hand, while holding object with Hornady Critical Defense in my right. That object is obscured from sight by the partially open door.
I live in a mid size Texas Town, yet the other day, a teen, home alone, heard someone open the front door, and walk into the living room. When he went to investigate, he got shot in the leg by a stranger who must’ve been checking houses for unlocked doors to rob them.
All you have to do is find ‘Jazmeen’ and ask her if she knows them! :)
A couple of incidents have happened at this house.
I mentioned them to a policeman acquaintance. He asked if I had reported them. I answered, “No.”
He said, “Report them. That’s why we’re here.”
