The Color of Your Character
The American Spectator ^ | July 9, 2012 | Ross Kaminsky

Posted on 07/09/2012 4:49:38 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Liberals really are a single-minded lot: In their view, the only possible explanation for a person hoping that Barack Obama loses his next election is racism. All things political are analyzed through a filter of skin color, putting today's left directly at odds with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream that his children "will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Conservatives might argue that leftists are hypocritical on this score, that they are judging Obama by his skin color and judging his critics by what they perceive to be the content of our characters -- based on nothing but our opposition to a far-left president who happens to be black.

But what they are demonstrating is not hypocrisy, it is projection. Liberals assume that since race is so important to them, it must be equally important to the rest of us, that it must, if you'll pardon the pun, color our every political thought. This is of course particularly true of the liberal elite who suffer deeply from what Hayek termed the "fatal conceit," a symptom of which is believing that all intelligent people must think as "Progressives" do -- and that all people not intelligent enough to think as they do are suited to be ruled by them.

The moral yardstick for the American left is now "the color of your character."

To liberals, when it comes to non-leftist critics of Barack Obama, the fact that many of us are not black means little less than that we wish the South had won the Civil War.

But when the subject is Barack Obama, the fact that his skin is black (despite his mother having been white) trumps all;....

“...Peg Bundy is one of the few women out there..”

Katey Sagal is a very pretty woman. Even with the Peg Bundy act, as distorted and bimbo-ified as it was, I still thought she was pretty.

“...I can’t imagine NFHale ‘reading’ a magazine with a name like that...”

Ahh, but au contraire, my friend...I enjoyed, and, to be quite frank, was dazzled - DAZZLED, I tell you - by the intellectually-stimulating qualities of the articles that were accompanying said bosomy, willowy bimbo photoshoots.

I read that tras, err, magazine, purely, and with the best of intentions, completely for the intellectual edification that it provided...

RE Katey Sagal:

I’ve not seen that show, but I just Googled it, and man, you are indeed correct.

She’s still a beauty. Mature beauty. I’m sure there’s some work done there, but the years are kind to her.

When you say ‘pretty’ are you really still talking ‘hooters’ ?

I thought she was attractive early in the series, lesbo Marcy wasnt bad then either. But I thought aging in the 9 years the series was on was brutal to them. Al didnt look that great either, lost lots of hair.

Pretty overall; she’s an attractive lady, “Peg” bimbification notwithstanding...

“...Al didnt look that great either, lost lots of hair...”

Ed O’Neil played that character perfectly. Very funny guy.

I wouldn’t call it “obsession” so much as it is this:

When it comes down to a choice between talking about POLITICAL BOOBS and REAL Boobs....I’ll go Real Boobs everytime!!!

That’s REALLY easy choice, my good brother!!!

I liked the early MwC seasons the best, season 2 to about season 4 or 5 when it was Steve and Marcy and the kids were not adults yet.

My favorite Christmas show (and maybe MwC episode) was when Santa fell out of the copter into the Bundy’s back yard and the emergency service refused to take his body out till the neigbor kids left the front yard. Too many classic scenes in that episode to list here, like Al dressing up as Santa trying to get rid of them. I just laugh continously.

The irreverance of it really stroked my laughing fire.

Agreed! Those were the peak seasons. Jefferson was a pretty good replacement, but the show dipped after Steve left.

Plus, most, not all, but most shows start to get ehh after ~5 seasons, IMHO.

At the Nudie Bar....

Where the music stinks, and they water the drinks, the nudie bar.
Where the girlies dance in their underpants, the nudie bar.
Where you see their butt, and their trap stays shut, at the nudie bar.

Where you can’t touch a breast, but you can cave in a chest, at the nudie bar.
Where you look at a thigh, and blacken an eye, at the nudie bar.
Where the beer gives you gas, but the Bundys kick ass, at the nudie bar.

I thought Jefferson was a lame replacement for the Steve and Marcy act. They had a really funny thing going as a comedy team complementing Al and Peg.

Before that the Jefferson actor was a regular on Happy Days and the Love Boat. Jeeze.
