Ernest Borgnine, the beefy screen star known for blustery, often villainous roles, but who won the best-actor Oscar for playing against type as a lovesick butcher in "Marty" in 1955, died Sunday. He was 95....

Except in the Poseidon Adventure. One of my favorites, with him in it.
I’ll always remember him as McCale’s Navy, which would be unbelievable racist if it was shown on TV these days. Or is it? No idea.
Weird bit of trivia popped into my mind when I thought about him. Does anyone remember that Satanist movie from the 70s where he played opposite of William Shatner?
Hmm... maybe not the time to think about that.
God Bless Mr. Borgnine! Fair winds, following seas...
Ernest Borgnine has always been one of my favorite actors.
I still remember when McHale’s Navy debuted.
RIP
One of the greats. RIP.
Dammit.
Bon voyage!
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet and Perdogg.
“Except in the Poseidon Adventure. One of my favorites, with him in it.”
“You were always arresting me!” -Ex hooker wife
“Well I had to do something to keep you off the street until you’d marry me!” -New York cop Ernest
I even liked him in Escape from New York.
I’ll have to go home and put on ‘Emperor of the North’.
NOBODY rides Shack’s train.
True, but he didn't like Clift either. He was happy to have the knife fight... although unhappy at the end of it. Good role.
I loved him in Escape from New York.
RIP
Lester Holt just gave Ernie barely 30 seconds on NBC Nightly News. Dumb.
High on my all-time favorite movie list: Marty
Just a beautiful poignant movie portrayal of a simple, lonely man.
Rip Mr. Borgnine.
RIP. One of the good guys, the real good guys.
No divorce? Well he was actually divorced several times. He was only married to Ethel Merman for like 20 minutes :-)
Saw him in “RED” - he was 92 when he did that part.
Happy trails “Dutch”....and say hi to Pike while yer at it.
RIP Marty. .. “...I dunno Ang, whatta you wanna do...”
And now we have the dregs of gen-x/y/z.

I found that 1979 movie last week! I had not seen it since it originally played on TV.
Now I have both the 1930 and 1979 versions.
