The Obama campaign began airing a TV ad Saturday in key election states attacking Mitt Romney for his stances on abortion and Planned Parenthood that was immediately rebuked by the Romney campaign as viciously negative and false.
The 30-second spot titled Troubled is airing in Virginia and seven other swing states.
Every woman who believes decisions about our bodies and our health-care should be our own is troubled Mitt Romney supports overturning Roe v. Wade, says a female voice at the beginning of the ad. Romney backed a law that outlaws all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest.;
Romney, though, has not taken that position publicly.
In response, the Romney campaign pointed to Romneys op-ed last year in the National Review titled My Pro-Life Pledge in which he said abortion should be limited to only instances of rape, incest or to save the life of a mother.
The campaign also argued the ad began airing the day after a U.S. unemployment report that showed the jobless rate remains at 8.2 percent.
Its no coincidence that a day after a disastrous jobs report, the Obama campaign drops viciously negative and false ads against Gov. Romney desperate to change the subject, spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg told FoxNews.com. The economy has gone negative on President Obama, so he has decided to go negative on Mitt Romney.
The ad also includes a video clip of Romney in which the GOP presidential candidate appears to imply he will get rid of Planned Parenthood, which the ad states provides life-saving cancer screenings.
Romney made clear after making the statement in March that if elected he would cut federal funding to, but not eliminate Amtrak and National Endowment for the Arts to reduce the federal debt.

>>In the US, 25-50 women die from ectopic pregnancy each year out of about 100,000 reported cases. <<
Because one can remove the tube without a legal ramification to the abortion.
No matter what the embryo must be aborted. It can’t be moved (yet).
Look, I’m Catholic. I’m as Pro-life as you get. Out protesting with the yellow balloon, the whole nine yards. But even the Vatican states that if the life of the mother will be lost (like dead, really dead, not just uncomfortable) and the only outcome is that both mother and child will die, they pick the least harm.
That’s the ONLY exception I want. And tightened up so there are no loopholes.
And we’ll have you and your ilk to thank for four more years of the moonbats...
Of course you won't. You're all hat and no cattle.
I don't know whether we should laugh or cry. Romney is in a pickle here but he's the GOP-E's pickle and he's his own pickle, not ours.
Gosh, who didn't see this coming?
Romney is worse than the openly pro-gay marriage/pro-abortion “conservative” PM David Cameron over here.
Cameron’s positions are out of lock-step with some of his party but are based on clearly articulated although obviously misguided principles. Someone like that can be morally reasoned with.
Romney has never had a position, platform or principle he wasn’t willing to abandon or contradict the moment he thought it politically expedient to do so.
Somewhere there is GOP-E power broker grinning to himself while thinking “Yeah, those right wing nuts might say they’re against Romney, but they’ll vote for him in the end, just like they did McCain and others, because they’ll talk themselves into believing apocalyptic nonsense like ‘there won’t be elections in 4 years’ or some such.”
If you prove them right once again there will be no end to RINO’ism. There only way to bring these people to heel is a demonstration that unless they uphold fundamental conservative principles they can expect no support from conservatives.
When elections are won and lost by 5-8% margins, those who turn out reliably should be calling the shots, not getting played like fiddles by elitist power brokers.
In the End, there will be perfect justice.
Take heart in that.
Yes, thank you.
This reminds me of George Wallace trying to say he was no longer a racist back in the 1970s.
As governor and for 30 years prior he supported abortion as a right. Now that he wants to run as a Republican for president, he has to claim that he is pro-life! And apparently, he has no idea what that even means, much less does he believe in it.
The GOP (at least on the national level) has become nothing more than a shell of what it once was.
Mitt Romney accomplishments as a LIBERAL can only be matched by the likes of FDR and LBJ.
Socialized medicine with taxpayer-funded abortion, homosexual "marriage", faltering economy when the rest of the nation was booming, gun grabbing and the like are things that the Kennedys and Clintons had tried for decades. The reason the Democrats hate Romney is because HE SHOULD BE ONE OF THEM.
Yours (and the vatican’s) position is impossible to implement. “Life of the mother” is still a wild card/trump card.
Reality is, EVERY pregnancy is a threat to the life of the mother. Each year, women die in pregnancy/childbirth with absolutely no warning signs.
>>Yours (and the vaticans) position is impossible to implement. Life of the mother is still a wild card/trump card.<<
Actually, (the Vatican’s) and my position is “Life of the Mother” when continuing the pregnancy will end both. Neither of us condone the liberal definition of “Life of the Mother”. And in modern medicine/developed countries, RARELY will a mother die from preganancy/childbirth. Look it up. Death from Pregnancy, in a mother with good prenatal care is almost unknown in non-third world countries.
And understand that you are speaking to a woman who had three “code teams” in for every one of her births because of known complications. Except that last, that was a section.
