This month cities all across the world are partaking in Gay Pride celebrations. Jed Kolko, the chief economist at Trulia, takes a look at the neighborhoods in the U.S. with the largest gay communities ("gayborhoods").
Using 2010 U.S. Census data, which lists 646,000 same-sex households, he calculated the neighborhoods with the largest percentage of same-sex male couples:

It’s amazing how NYC stays off the gay lists. NYC has the largest homosexual population in America. The distributed percentage is less but they don’t spend their time distributed. You’ll never see such sheer numbers of gays in one spot than in NYC.
How does that mean homosexual?
The deviates from Portland, San Fransicko and elsewhere and the perverse lifestyle they live are being championed by major department store chains and corporations nationwide. When they go gay, we go away!
Where we grew up, Palm Springs, is #2 and #4.
Same-sex households are often just same-sex roommates.
I’m the parent of some of these young adults who share a roof and rent. As do many of their right-living, church-going single friends. Makes perfect sense.
Sounds like this study is based on flawed assumptions.
Northampton is a college town, with many students moving in and out. The semi-permanent population of people who stay longer than college students may be gayer than the numbers indicate, but of course a lot of the old-timers aren't lesbians.
Counting by zip codes can create problems. One of the commenters on the Atlantic site pointed out that Washington DC's gay neighborhood is split between three zip codes. Also, a lot of gay neighborhoods were formed by yuppies buying into depressed or immigrant neighborhoods, so a few blocks away in the same zip code you may find many very traditional families.
If the Castro District is 14.2 percent, I don't believe it. It's closer to 50%.
If the City of San Francisco is claimed to be 14.2% the number is exaggerated by a factor of 2.
I suspect that family households with one pervert in it, counts the entire family as gay.
I'm sure the "gay real estate agent" guy for the Dallas neighbor would know. Really, he lists himself as the GLBT agent with a relocation guide that goes overboard "gay" in the title of businesses with gay this and gay that and gay whatever further proving it's all about the desperate need for attention.
You can bet that if same sex roommates were counted, the numbers would easily be in the double digits, not a fraction of a single digit.
Drag a gerbil on a string thru San Francisco and see what kind of crowd you draw!
As these gay households tend toward monogamous relationships your reasoning skills are matched only by your wit.
There are also more Jews in NYC than in Isreal, your point is meaningless.
There are also more Jews in NYC than in Israel, your point is meaningless.
A male trying to mate with another male’s anal canal is insane. A female trying to mate with another female using a rubber appliance is insane. An adult trying to mate with a child is insane. It’s like Uncle Mike sitting at your dinner table trying to eat an ear of corn by shoving it in his ear and then telling you that’s his lifestyle. It may be, but it’s still insane behavior.

Or they are attracted to urban cores with lots of activity and catered to because they spend lots of money on activities and consumer goods, without adding kids to the school district.
“Where we grew up, Palm Springs, is #2 and #4.”
I grew up in Palm Springs myself. The place sure has changed.
How could they have left out Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C.? It is at least 50 percent gay.
