ASSIGNMENT OF NATIONAL SECURITY AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS COMMUNICATIONS FUNCTIONS
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:
Section 1. Policy. The Federal Government must have the ability to communicate at all times and under all circumstances to carry out its most critical and time sensitive missions. Survivable, resilient, enduring, and effective communications, both domestic and international, are essential to enable the executive branch to communicate within itself and with: the legislative and judicial branches; State, local, territorial, and tribal governments; private sector entities; and the public, allies, and other nations. Such communications must be possible under all circumstances to ensure national security, effectively manage emergencies, and improve national resilience. The views of all levels of government, the private and nonprofit sectors, and the public must inform the development of national security and emergency preparedness (NS/EP) communications policies, programs, and capabilities.

Goes back to the ‘70s
Seen it.
Could you hook up a 110 baud teletype to it?
My old S-line has 6146’s.
I have some 807’s, but there are better ways to generate a signal than those.
Need PC boards, I did that stuff for years. Still have material and lots of descrete components.
Wow, you just made my memory do a back-flip.
My Dad had an audio power amp he was very proud of, which had four 807's in push-pull-parallel, a couple of massive transformers (power and output, of course), a pre-amp/phase-splitter (6SN7?). I recall the amp being associated with a mono "Voice of the Theatre" system. He had it hooked up and running for many years, but retired it in favor of a smaller stereo receiver sometime in the 1970's.
I worshiped that amp from the time I was a kid in the 50's until he passed away in 1996, but when my sis and I went through his things, the amp was nowhere to be found. I was heartbroken; I imagine he or someone tossed it believing it had no value in the modern age of solid-state amps.
*sigh*
Somethings up...something maybe like a coup d’état.
“Spark gap transmitters”
Did you ever see a real spark gap transmitter?
I did.
Knew a Ham who actually operated one before they were outlawed.
I dislike SSB and AM since I'm hard of hearing now.
Spark gap is pretty much CW only. And unlawful these days.

Shutting down the ‘net will also shut down the leftwing blogs and Web sites.
How will this affect BO’s bid for donations? Or will he find other (illegal, foreign) cash sources?
Shutting down the ‘net will destroy e-commerce and further cripple the economy.
Well, the nuclear command and control infrastructure hasn’t been well funded for a long time and is in danger of deteriorating (TACAMO, Looking Glass, etc.) so hopefully this is a fix for that.
Nobody seems to have anything posted about this besides the EO itself which is a bunch a legal mumbo jumbo that’s not understandable by a commoner like me.
Amazing.
The Cuban Hams are pretty good techs. Knew the chief engineer for Radio Havana. Met him when I was living in OK. Had dinner with him and other ham friends. Then to my neighbors shack. Neighbor was an EME guy, super tech.
Arnie (Cuban Ham) was very current on RF devices other than tubes.
He claimed to be a technico not a politico. Did not believe him.
It is! Fifty-four comments in and I still have absolutely no clue what this is. Bookmarking to keep an eye on it though.
Don't know about the current situation. Haven't worked a Cuban station since '98 or '99, and they were all zampolits back then.

I ran a Navy MARS station out of my home for 19 years. Have deep respect for our military personnel.

Well, I was speaking hypothetically and wondering from a technical standpoint what it would do internationally.
I do know that his base would be just as pissed as anyone
at any US shutdown.
Thanks Army Air Corps!
