If you are infected you will lose internet connectivity on Mon.

To check for infection and fix it, go to:

http://www.dcwg.org/

There are other articles on the subject also, I just picked this one because it had a more attention getting title. Here is another one with more technical detail, but all you need is the link above.

How to detect and fix a machine infected with DNSChanger. The FBI will be closing the DNSChanger network on Monday, after which thousands worldwide are expected to no longer be able to access the Internet.

Also, it’s from the Vancouver Sun.

Call me crazy, but I’ll take my chances rather than go to any site that has any connection to our government.

Haha..jokes on them I don’t have any of that.

And just how much do they charge your credit card for this "service", fixing something they created as a money maker?

There is NO CHARGE.

If you are infected, you WILL LOSE INTERNET CONNECTIVITY on Monday.

And you can’t get it back until you remove the malware, which will be hard if you can’t get to the internet to get instructions.

Are Your DNS Settings OK?

The malicious Rove viruses changed some peoples DNS settings to use computers they operated.

Compare your DNS settings with the known malicious Rove DNS settings listed below:

As in "Rove, you magnificent b@$t@rd"?

You do realize of course that the back bone of the internet runs through government servers and literally every single thing you do on the internet goes through a connection to our government right?

Thanks. I’m a suspicious SOB who believes in life at hard labor for hackers and virus creators. After I get to kick their butts, that is!

Checked it, got a green screen.

This story has been waaaaay over-hyped. It certainly shouldn’t be wasting a BREAKING NEWS slot on FR. It’s a very small number of machines, I’ve seen estimates of as few as 25,000 — mostly Canadian. And frankly you should be glad if this does happen because it forces you to attend to a serious malware problem that your computer is infected with. But the small number of computers this affects doesn’t justify the sensational stories the media have been whipping up.

My computer passed the "OK" check but the response went on to talk about possible other problems to do with high speed connections such as those used by small and home offices (SOHO).

"The DNSChanger malware is capable of changing the DNS server settings within SOHO routers that have the default username and password provided by the manufacturer."

The crack technical support at my DSL provider knows nothing beyond passing me quotes from the document that already have.

What is a SOHO to do? What user name and password are they talking about?

Ah! But is it configured to run on a lipstick network?
