OK fellow Freepers, I'm in need of some assistance. I am constantly getting into debates with liberals I work with who, of course, just love ObamaTaxCare. Like good liberals, when I present them facts demonstrating what a terrible law this is, they simply ignore them.
One problem I have is that when they ask what the Republicans plan is, I'm having some difficulty. I know what the tenets of the Republicans plan would look like, such as tort reform, selling insurance across State lines, high risk pools, etc. Has there been formally been a plan introduced by the GOP or Mittens yet? I have to admit that if they have put one out, I haven't been paying attention as closely as I should be. If they haven't, I definitely think they need to put out something. I don't think just saying we will dump ObamaTaxCare is enough. I believe we need to have something to tell the American Public what will be put in it's place as a viable alternative. Thanks for any assistance!
i think tort reform is a good idea - and in texas - we did it - again, it would be nice if other states would follow suit - but could live with a federal reining in of the tort lawyers
ghettocare mandates what every policy must cover - and i do not have plans to take advantage of the free sex change but you never know what the future brings - states also have a big say in this stuff - ghettocare not only wants to micromanage what the policy covers, but the cost of the policy - they will bankrupt every company - or make it impossible to meet their reserves - or make it impossible for them to administer their policies for the price ghettocare allows them to spend on administration
all your ‘wouldn't it be nice if...’ would require regulation - there is no guarantee that an insurance company would offer any of it - even if they were free to do so - and the absence of a federal prohibition does not mean there would not be a state prohibition - unless the feds prohibited states from regulating insurance - that puts us back to the uneasy feds telling states what to do again
i don't have a solution - but toyed with something in my pointy head
we need consumers to be involved in the cost of medical services - no one cares about the $200 aspirin as long as the insurance company pays it - and no one cares about the cost of the policy as long as the employer is paying it
what if we passed a federal law that no one could buy insurance except people - you - me - we'd have to buy the policy that any insurance company offered - or no policy - not the employer - individuals or families
i’m sure employers would up salaries to compensate on the benefits side - but i’d be writing that check every month - the policy would be in effect as long as i paid the bill - even when fired from my job
not sure if that is part of the answer - but i do know we need the patient to have a vested interest in the cost of services
i am a cold sob and would extend the right to die from lack of medical services to everyone - and would not force any person or institution to provide it - yes - i’d let fools die from their own stupidity and not force others to pay for their misguided choices - if they value that $200 cable titanium sports package over insurance - i’d allow them to watch it on their deathbed
at one time we'd turn to our churches or family or friends or charitable institutions for help - today we are offended because a church MIGHT want to talk to you about religion if they offer aid - we demand an impersonal check be spit out of a government computer and directly deposited so we don't have to get off our sofa watching our cable tv - its a ‘right’ - i have to thank no one - look no one in the eye - i get to demand - because its my right
government has its functions - i’m not a wackjob paultard anarchist that hates all government - but healthcare has exactly nothing to do with rights or government - we are given equal opportunity - not equal outcomes - since the inception of the great society, the greatest society on the planet has gone downhill - to the point where now the right to f... - um - there is a right to have sex without consequence - which means i have to pay for their birth control - because they are ‘poor’ - no one is poor that can dig food out of a dumpster - ask north korea what poor is - and with each new ‘right’ has come - not a thank you - but more bitchiness and more demands for more free stuff - i can't believe that people are taken seriously when they demand the right to be a slut and i have to pay for it - and a president that openly declares he wants the right for his daughters to be sluts
jobs bring dignity - the democrapz have robbed that from an entire class of people
wait - was this about healthcare or what?
This is as good a plan as any: http://www.nationalaffairs.com/publications/detail/how-to-replace-obamacare
The Ryan plan includes reform of Medicare, Medicaid and the tax exclusion for employer health coverage. I don’t think it gets into dealing with pre-existing conditions through state high risk pools or tort reform.

So you’re saying that what Mitt did at the State level in Mass. was in violation of the US Constitution?
Great - tho it seems they’re charging everyone else 60% too much.
The problem is, she probably didn't "do nothing".
I bet you anything that when she was being paid $317,000 by the University of Chicago as "Vice President for Community and External Affairs" that the University of Chicago Hospital's looting of the Federal treasury increased by much, MUCH more than that.
In a piratical sense, I'm sure she was worth every penny.
By the way, how many "Vice President of Community Affairs" jobs do you suppose there are in corporate America and in academia? Does that count as reparations?
