Mitt Romney reportedly raised more than $100 million in June, the best fundraising month of his campaign so far.
Politico's Mike Allen first reported the total, which includes contributions to both Romney's campaign and the Romney Victory Funda joint account between the Romney campaign and the Republican National Committee. A Romney spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
That's two record-breaking months in a row for the Romney team. In May, the presumptive Republican nominee raised nearly $77 millionalmost $17 million more than President Barack Obama's re-election campaign. The Obama campaign has not yet announced its June totals.

2002 Salt Lake Committee Bans Boy Scouts From Olympics
David M. Bresnahan
Monday, Dec. 18, 2000
The largest Boy Scout council in the country responded to the call for volunteers issued by the Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee, but the welcome mat was rolled up and the door slammed in its face.
Olympic spokesmen for the 2002 winter games say the exclusion has nothing to do with recent protests by gay activists.
"For us not to be involved is discouraging, considering the Atlanta games. The Scouting council there was extremely involved," said Kay Godfrey, professional Scout executive for the Great Salt Lake Council of Boy Scouts.
A number of executives and volunteers from the council have worked for many months with Salt Lake Olympic officials under the assumption that the Boy Scouts would participate in Olympic ceremonies until recently.
"We dont understand whats wrong. They just dont want us and wont talk to us," said Latimer.
He told NewsMax.com that Mitt Romney, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Olympic Committee, has not returned phone calls from a number of Scout officials who have tried to obtain clarification.
Was Romney a proponent of abortion because that is where the majority was and it was politically useful/necessary to get elected, or because of deeply-held principle (I use the term loosely when it concerns murdering children, but you know what I mean)?
My take is that Romney is a professional politician, from birth (son of a Governor). He follows the polls, has consultants dissect the demographics, and tailors his positions to get elected.
Obama on the other hand, I believe to be a true ideologue of the worst kind, raised from birth inside the Communist Party USA. When it comes to abortion, no US Senator was a stauncher supporter than he. How warped is it to compel the Catholic Church (and all others) to pay for abortions? A hundred-fold over, Obama is the greater evil.
Please help to save America from the disaster of another Obama Presidency and Supreme Court appointments. There is only one feasible alternative to do this. Romney was by no means my choice in the primary, but he is my only realistic choice to defeat Obama.
Listen to the man’s words:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OQoBxZZPqU&feature=player_embedded
He advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in this country from the time that his mother ran for office way back in 1970 (before Roe v Wade even). Definitely not a popular idea.
The exact boast is at the 51 second mark in the above video.
And, yes, he was boasting about being an abortionist since at least 1970.
Abortionist = one who advocates abortion as a political cause. Romney is a long term advocate of abortion as a political cause. By his own admission (boast actually), he pushed abortion for over three decades of his adult life including his time in government office.
I am officially renaming you Diogoherpes.
The strange thing is that I don't even like Mitt, but you are working overtime to re elect Obama, and you have become the #1 Free Republic pest, as well.
I now consider you suspect as an American.
OK, I listened to the clip, and its not pretty (it is edited a bit to leave a bit worse impression though). Even so, it sounded to me that he was promising voters that he would not challenge the existing status quo of abortion laws, not that he was seeking to push the frontiers of abortion further. From a political perspective, he may have simply been seeking to deflect a strong line of attack at that time (Romney will take away a woman’s right to choose and force poor teens into back alley abortions!) which mobilized an active part of the Democrat party base and was a big factor in the “gender gap” which gave Democrats an electoral edge. He was offering a position to the voters before the election to leave the existing law alone, which he honored after he was elected. I admit that I saw no evidence of an inherent moral qualm on his part about allowing abortion, but also no drive to expand or promote it. It was kind of “I promise to uphold the law as it is, and not rock the boat”.
Obama on the other hand, has always pushed to expand abortion, to the most horrendous degrees (e.g. partial birth), and his HHS is now actively using Obamacare powers to stamp out all right of conscience from religious opponents of abortion.
And that’s just abortion. He and his administration are destroying our economy, undermining our constitution, deconstructing our defenses, divulging our secrets, encouraging takeovers by the Muslim Brotherhood abroad, and subverting our culture at home. The very worst of pedophiles, perverts, race-baiters, communists and anti-American traitors have found their way into the White House and into positions of influence.
Romney is no Ronald Reagan, but he is what God has given us to work with in this time of great peril. He really does know very well what business needs to thrive in America, and I believe that he will try to achieve it (if only for his own re-election prospects). In truth, I believe that he will be able able to recruit a pretty good economic team, and would generally not oppose good ideas that come to his desk from Congressional Republicans/Conservatives. With Obama it would be total war, unconstrained by ethics, tradition, or the law. Conservative initiatives would be blocked by hook or by crook, and radical changes would be instituted by fiat (like gays in the military, open borders, millions of new citizens added directly onto welfare rolls, more industries nationalized, regulations on everything - like political speech on the Internet). Obama is an unprecedented threat to our Republic.
Bottom Line: Romney’s not the social conservative that we would want, but he is a competent manager and a loyal American. We’ve just got to stop the bleeding and fresh wounds from Obama. Obama can not be trusted with the powers of the Presidency. While it is on my watch to defend our constitution I will do it even if it means my death - or even if I have to vote for a suboptimal candidate.
Obama must be defeated.
Denial. C’mon. It’s not edited other than being compiled together in one video. The individual recordings of the programs where he stated these things have been out there for many years and can easily be found on youtube. Romney has advocated for legalized abortion for the most of his adult life if not all of it. His mama taught him.
He’s a progressive liberal. Always has been, always will be.
RomneyCare. End of story.
I know the SCOTUS healthcare decision settled it for me.
I won't condemn those who reach a different conclusion but another 4 years of Obama and no chance to repeal the monstrosity even with House and Senate votes is scary...not to mention what more damage will he do...he has been highly successful on social issues.
Romney..like Bush...more so actually...will have to be pushed.
Bush made big mistakes too and Romney's Mass leadership was poor as we all know.
it is bitter as hell isn't it?
Sarah did not run. Perry imploded. Newt faltered in Florida and the GOP establishment and FOX and Drudge squished us like bugs.
Now we can either deal with it or sit it out...everyone’s choice.
But for me...Romney is better than Obama.
Mormonism is not an issue for me. I think some of their quiet tenets are strange but one could say that about some Catholic writings, the Talmud and Evangelical Television rants.
I do not believe Smith or Young were saints or prophets but I do like most Mormons I know and converge with them on social views as a rule..at least here in middle TN
that is just how it is...resigned
Clear the airways
Treat for shock.
Only then is there the luxury of a coffee and smoke break to sort thing out.
I agree . Got to get Obama out of office........
We were cornered and handed an objectionable set of choices.
The selection of Romney carries with it a responsibility far beyond the vote itself. There is no relief in sight regardless of November’s outcome. Bear down, and prepare for another 4 long years.
Work locally folks. The RINO-GOP is helpless without its minions that have infiltrated our neighborhoods.
Dear Jim,
When I say that the video clip was edited, I mean that they only compiled those words that supported the narrative. They did not change his words - they just picked the most extreme and clipped off the qualifiers and weasel words that followed. Some of our freepers seem to me to do the same - painting a picture of Romney as to the left of Teddy Kennedy. He was a politician trying to cut deals in an overwhelmingly leftist state. The reality of someone actually in that arena trying to govern is that the legislature can override any veto, and you have to trade concessions to get anything you want done from a bureaucracy and power structure that is solidly leftist. After a few years of that, there will be plenty of conciliatory sound bites to piece together which will fall short of the Reagan standard (even though Reagan himself was once a Democrat, a union boss and signed an abortion bill as Governor).
I can admit that Romney is far to left of where I am on abortion (although sadly he’s nearer the center of American political opinion), gay marriage and gun control.
Can you please acknowledge that Obama is much worse?
Our realistic choice is the lesser of two evils. Withholding votes from Romney, or discouraging people from voting for him, ultimately serves Obama’s interests, and thereby damages America’s. I am praying that we all can do the hard things that need to be done to protect our Republic.
Obama must be defeated.
Just posted the following in a different thread. Sums up my thoughts about our “Republican” nominee:
The unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness are now self-righteous principles?
Good Lord. What have we become? Slaves to overbearing government?
Romney is a statist. An abortionist/homosexualist statist!
The abortion and homosexual agenda thing is obvious, but maybe youre missing the fact that his signature achievement as governor was to impose a compulsory socialist health care system complete with mandates and penalties (or taxes) against the formerly free citizens who refuse to go along with tyranny. And, yes, the government forcing its subjects, er, free citizens into contracts against their will is tyranny and it is a violation of our fundamental constitutional rights and is antithetical to the founders intentions and vision for a free republic. Dont look now but thats exactly what ObamaCare does and why freedom loving patriots are up in arms against HIS tyranny!
Obama is a statist. ObamaCare is statism. Look it up.
statism - the theory or practice of concentrating economic and political power in the state, resulting in a weak position for the individual or community with respect to the government
Statism is where the government controls the economy and restricts economic freedom. Well, thats exactly what ObamaCare does.
And guess what, thats exactly what RomneyCare does.
And it doesnt end there. Obama and Romney both agree that the bailouts were good ideas and more may be needed. They both love TARP. They also both agree that government stimulus spending is necessary and good and that more may be needed. Again, government controlling or trying to control the economy is statism. Obama is a statist. Romney is a statist. They advocate the exact same thing: Controlling/restricting our economic freedom and not only limiting our choices but demanding that we purchase specific government approved products only. And worse, in this case, charge a tax penalty if you refuse to purchase anything at all.
Cmon people, resisting tyranny of this sort is not stubbornness and these are not self-righteous principles. Economic freedom is one of our fundamental founding principles. Without economic freedom, there is no Liberty! Likewise, without the right to life, there can be no Liberty!
Obama cares nothing about our God-given unalienable rights, and by HIS actions and well-known advocations regarding abortion, the homosexual agenda, gun control, liberal judges, compulsory healthcare, mandates against the people, etc, Romney obviously doesnt appreciate our rights either!!
Romney is a statist just exactly like Obama!! Its steeped into his psyche. Thats what he is and where he goes when making decisions. The state reigns supreme in his inner conscience. Hell take us to the exact same place that Obama is taking us to and it will be a place where government controls the economy and limits your freedom!! Only in Romneys case, the Republicans will be willing to go along.
Not only no, but Hell no, I will not trade one statist for another just like him!!
Free Republic was founded to fight against this kind of corruption and tyranny. Ill be damned if were going to knuckle under to either of these statist tyrants!!
Romney can KMA!! Obama can KMA!! The GOP-e can KMA!!
Dont tread on me!!
By the way, and this statist tyranny (ObamaCare / RomneyCare) was exactly the reason the tea party sprang up. It would be a shame and a disgrace if tea partiers now wimp out and support a proven statist tyrant like Romney!!
We are the resistance!!
