The Obama Whitehouse asked the Supreme Court to expedite hearing the Health Care law, rather than allow it to go through lower courts, so that it would be announced when it was. Even if they did not know the eventual outcome of the case, they wanted to make Obamacare/Romneycare the most important issue in the campaign as they know it will eclipse the economy and obviously Romney is WEAK on the issue. They have prepared for Romney and are controlling how the campaign will be run. It is not too late to replace Romney at the convention!!!!!!!!!!

Defeatist BULLCRAP.

This is a two-edged sword and only the person bold enough to wield it can emply it to his own advantage.

Just because the Ship of State is headed for the reefs, we should let it happne because most people are unaware of it and it would be too much trouble to re-direct it????

The same kind of assinine thinking gave us the mess with Ginny Mae and Freddie Mac.

Obamacare, in toto is un-American and wrong and despite what that fruitcake Roberts said, unconstitutional.

I want Romney to exempt every state in Union from it. I want Boner and McConnell to rescind it, and I’d like to see somebody stuff it up Robert’s rectum.

If it is permitted to stand, it will destroy any chance of a recovery, steall healthcare from seniors and others who paid inot the healthcare system, impose an enormous burden on taxpayers of every level, EXEMPT THE VERY PEOPLE WHO APPROVED IT, expand the Federal Beaurocracy even more than already expanded, and reduce the quality of healthcare and medical research for the forseeable future.

Parts of this bill may be a good idea. But the bill itself needs to be rescinded in its entirity and replaced with individual bills addressing real individual ills and allowed to pass or be rejected on their own merits.

“The Dems have LOST the hammer they had to beat the USSC as a right wing partisan gang”

Was that ever a hammer, though? I mean to anyone who already doesn’t like the right wing? People have been saying Roberts didn’t want to fall into the same trap as Renquist with Bush v Gore, but who the heck cared about that case, anyway? People who wanted Gore to win, mostly. This whole idea that the general public cares about partisanship as such rather than wanting their interpretation of the Constitution to carry the day, is a myth.

I am not ready to turn my country over to Obama for another 4 years.

We have seen what he has done in the last 4 , we do not need any more of this.

If Obama wins we are done for. It’s that simple, we will be just another third world country .

“’“Was not their job to protect us from our own political choices’

‘I could almost agree with that had zerocare been honestly brokered and voted upon’”

Seriously? So long as the process is on the up and up Congress can do whatever it wants? Whatever the mob says goes? In which case I wonder why we bother having a Constitution.

RINO Romney has said over and over, “Repeal AND replace”

So yeah, ur stuck with it.

ANYONE,

You REALLY believe you`re going to remove the 16th Amendment, or the Commerce/Necessary and Proper clauses !? Or you REALLY believe you`re going to end the new meaning, ‘ It means whatever we say it means on any given day’ !?

Come on. Be realistic.

A Lockean renewal or a Pinochet style reset is about the only options left.

This is a lot harder to call than a lot of FReepers believe.

Obamacare was able to happen for a reason, and that reason was the severe damage that had already occurred to our healthcare system from 40+ years of (mostly) popular government interventions that were poorly planned and mostly unfunded.

People WANT free sh*t. They WANT to be promised they won’t have to pay for it. People HATE the dependency that comes with sickness, and they want someone to blame.

That’s the context that gave rise to Obamacare, and none of that has changed.

The electorate voted the sob’s in. Thats what we have to be mindful of and prevent. And we did not do that.
This bill was not going to pass for just the very constitutional questions that arose during the debate and then with the election of Brown, it was doomed.

Until the chicanery started, it wasn’t going to pass and the system was working.
The Supreme Court does NOT have to strike anything down unless it is unconstitutional.
We expected them to do the same thing with McCain Feingold and they did not then either. Even W was surprised if I recall.

I am not saying that Roberts made the right call nor that the bill is constitutional. But his comment is correct so far as it goes. Hence my original comment: its up to us to keep the mob in check. Civics 101, idealism chapter.

It was the Kansas-Nebraska act that was shoved down the American People's throat that led to rise of the Republican Party and Lincoln.

Americans know this bill is unconstitutional, they don't want it and they won't let it stand.

Rommeny doesn't have to run with alternatives to Obamacare, it is a tax and he needs to run against it as a tax.

Most Americans have no issues with their health care.

This year, it’s the conservatives who are motivated and enthusiastic. In 2008, many conservatives were apathetic, mainly because of McCain’s lackluster campaign. But Obama’s 4 disastrous years of statism and now, with the Roberts decision in the mix, the enthusiasm factor is on our side.

Exactly right, Signalman. Conservatives will crawl over broken glass to vote in November and Obama and his team know it.

I'm constantly amazed by conservative political pundits, and many who post here on FR, who go weak in the knees the minute any negative news about Romney is written/reported. "We can't win!", "Romney is toast!". Good grief, get a grip. Folks, this is a war and, like any war, we have to win the majority of battles. Team Romney has fought very well so far. Our Dear Leader would love nothing more than to get Romney off the economy and talking about healthcare, because 1) that takes the American peoples' minds off how bad it is, and 2) Obama wants to reshape the debate to make it appear that Romney wants to take something away from the American people, i.e. Obama's "free healthcare". Romney, to his credit, has stayed on message.

Obama owns this economy and we need to make sure the American people know and remember that.

The author of this piece is a tool. On the one hand he says:

"Remember, this election is not going to be decided by people who feel passionately about the issues. It's going to be decided by people in the middle who don't care much one way or another..."

And almost immediately after he says:

"But now that Obama has won, people are saying, 'Wow, he gotten done this thing that Presidents since Truman have been trying to do. He must be pretty competent.'"

Newsflash idiot-boy: If people don't care one way or another, they are going to have NO IDEA that politicians since Truman have been trying to get socialized medicine passed.

I stopped reading shortly after this guy revealed himself as a retard.

It did go through the lower courts first, and the decision was announced at the same time decisions are always announced by the SCOTUS during that term of hearing cases.

“Rommeny doesn’t have to run with alternatives to Obamacare, it is a tax and he needs to run against it as a tax”

I have trouble keeping up. Haven’t the Romney people asserted that it’s a penalty, not a tax?

“Most Americans have no issues with their health care”

Interesting if true, and I have no reason to doubt you. Then Romney needs to get healthcare on the back burner, huh?

Actually, by stating that it is a penalty and not a tax, they are setting up grounds for another constitutional challenge, which the SC didn't address this time.

You cannot penalize an individual with a tax, that is against the 5th amendment.

Yes, this was an issue that was not considered crucial to Americans, but Obama wanted to get in socialized medicine.

Obamacare needs to be attacked, but alternatives don't have to be discussed.

But the Dems will or would have used it to keep their base riled up. The Dems are a Party which has no logic amongst it’s constituency but they have plenty of raw emotion they can play to and the “radical RW USSC” was tailor made for them and now they don’t have it.

Think of Scrooge... This is economy present. Obamacare is economy yet to come. We need to focus on economy present.
