Amid John Roberts' craven surrender to "the political branches" on Obamacare -- a bizarre capitulation, at that, since Roberts honored a statute that he hallucinated, but neither Congress nor the president authored nor authorized -- Americans should remember just how many rules, standards, and traditions had to be twisted or bulldozed in order for the [un]Affordable Care Act to become law.
For Obamacare to be enacted in the first place required each of more than a dozen, highly unlikely or even suspect, occurrences or actions. It then took some serious constitutional hocus pocus for it to survive in court. Consider the awful litany:
First, rogue prosecutors, drunk with bloodlust, had to break all sorts of rules in order to secure the conviction of Alaska's U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens. (Stevens, in his hubris, also had to insist on a speedy trial he thought would clear his name before the election of 2008, when in fact it resulted in the conviction that sealed his electoral fate.) Also, Judge Emmet Sullivan, a no-nonsense jurist, had to decide not to declare a mistrial before the verdict despite growing evidence of prosecutorial misconduct. (Sullivan didn't necessarily err; he just didn't have enough proof of misconduct yet. When it came, post-trial, he cracked down fairly hard on the scofflaws.) Had Stevens been re-elected, he presumably would never have voted for Obamacare, which therefore would have failed by one vote even if none of the other, subsequent abominations (as we will discuss) were forestalled.
Second, the Democrats had to succeed in flat-out stealing the election for a Minnesota-based U.S. Senate seat from Republican Norm Coleman. In addition to securing the counting of highly questionable "votes" throughout the recount process, the Democrats also likely benefited from the illegal votes of hundreds of felons.

I was hoping someone would do a timeline of all the shennanigans that went on.
I’d forgotten about a few of them.
Me too.
“For Obamacare to be enacted in the first place required each of more than a dozen, highly unlikely or even suspect, occurrences or actions.”
For the Socialists to overcome so many 'impossible hurdles' it would seem to be there's something or someONE more sinister involved here; The AntiChrist. Not joking.
One of the primary differences between conservatives and liberals is that liberals CHEAT. Without deception and lies they’d accomplish nothing. For example, 0bama’s ‘read my lips; NO NEW TAXES’ moment was a smokescreen realized when HIS ATTORNEY fought for 0bamacare BEING A TAX before the Supreme Court. This kind of deception SHOULD bring him before Congress for impeachment. When G.H.W. Bush said that it was curtains for his re-election bid and we were endlessly reminded of his famous quote in the media. WHERE’S THE MEDIA NOW??????
I think there are about 20-25 people that are directly responsible for dragging Obamacare over the finish line. First, there were about 2-3 democrat senators that were arm twisted into supporting the bill on Cristmas eve 2009. The chief of them was Ben Nelson with the infamous “Cornhusker kickback”. Fast forward to March 2010 where the 15-17 “Stupack Democrats,” the elligidly pro-life democrats held out their votes in the House until they allowed to be lied to / bought off for their votes to pass the bill in the House. Finally, in the legal challenges, you had the final 7 votes (2 in the appellate and 5 in the SC) to rule it constitutional.
Hence, you only have about 20-25 people that are directly responsible and their decisions were done in back room deals and arm twisting. This despite poll after poll after poll, showing obamacare never being popular and loosing by strong margins. The public does not want Obamacare.
Despite the SC ruling, I am very confident that republican majorities will win the Senate and increase its margin in the House as well as the WH. There will be a double mandate this November. The economy and Obamacare. Unlike the political arm twisting I mentioned above, the public will finally get to vote on if they really want this thing.
And the failure of the GOP to act on that information is a fatal weakness. Democrats and other leftists win by any means. Republicans compromise and accept what they think are good faith agreements. The result is the ratchet goes endlessly to the left.
God help us.
Conservatives are angry and coming in Nov?
I’m sure the left is shaking in their boots.
They just got everything they wanted - why would they care about one election?
Especially when everyone will get over being angry and vote for them in 2014.
Why don’t you go pay your taxes (which they’ll be raising.) Your paradise won’t be free. :)
“This law is (figuratively speaking) the spawn of vile political beasts. It must be decapitated.”
Something for the Romney campaign to think about.
And also the term “Liberal” is used currently for people who care nothing about liberty. Modern-day liberals are FASCISTS. They want to control everything. They do NOT want freedom.
Nor are they “progressive” in any sense. They’re “regressive.”
You mean Elizabeth Warren, she is TOAST, after the shennigans of claiming she is a percentage native American.
No,I'm talking about the empty suit that our Rat Governor appointed to the Senate to fill Saint Teddy's seat until a special election could be held. Can't recall his name but like any good Rat stooge he gladly voted to destroy the finest health care system ever devised by mankind.
As for Warren....you clearly don't know much about Massachusetts politics if you classify her as "toast".Ted Kennedy *killed* a woman and how many times was *he* elected? Although the race is gonna be close my money's on her....even if they have to cheat!
Just to “correct” you, I do know what goes on with the neighbor to the north of CT, hear the calls that come in the local talk radio shows from folks in MA about Elizabeth Warren. Not that flattering.
She hurt herself when she shot herself in feet in regards to her and the Cherokee trible heritage stuff.
Yes,I see that you're from Connecticut and I understand what you're saying. But understand that as popular as someone like Howie Carr is his audience represents a very small portion of the Massachusetts electorate. And I also understand that Warren hurt herself with all this Indian stuff. However, knowing our politics as well as you do you must acknowledge that of all the states that Osama carries in November one of the widest margins of victory he'll enjoy is right here. And while this probably won't be true in most states Osama will have huge coattails here.I fear that those coattails alone will bring her victory as well as victory for Tierney, who,it now seems, knew all along that his wife was laundering money. In short,I strongly fear that Brown's victory in 2010 was a fluke.
And yes,I very much hope to be proven wrong!
