“I thank Duckworth for her sacrifice”

“BUT.....if she supports Obama!”

Sounds like lip service.

I really don’t care about her affiliation with Obama...tell Mr. Walsh he’s out of line.

She served. In my book, if you simply serve your country without deployment....you have my highest respect.

Did she serve honorably? If yes, then why does anyone have a problem reprimanding a Republican for these comments......whether or not he is “NEEDED”!

Can anyone tell me the value of this kind of political attack simply to gain office?

Rep. Joe Walsh Statement on Duckworth Attack Friends, My opponents are once again trying to accuse me of something that is not true. It has become their agenda this Fourth of July week to twist my words and claim I said my opponent is not a hero and have insulted all veterans as a consequence. Folks, if you’re familiar with me and my campaign, you know this is utterly false. Shame on her for saying this and shame on her for using veterans in this fashion. In fact, recently on the Big John and Amy Show I stated, “Tammy Duckworth’s service demands our respect and that is something I will do and say for her throughout this campaign.” I open all my town halls byrecognizing our veterans who served to protect our great nation. Tammy Duckworth knows this and should know better than to use her service and the service of others as a political ploy to distort my words and distract voters. We as a people are facing great problems in our country, and it is time for us to get serious and address them. Just so you are all aware, I released the following statement earlier: “Of course Tammy Duckworth is a hero. I have called her a hero 100′s of times in the past four months. Just like every man and woman who has worn the uniform, her service demands – demands – our utmost respect. That’s why I recognize our veterans at the beginning of every one of my public town halls. However, unlike most veterans I have had the honor to meet since my election to Congress, who rarely if ever talk about their service or the combat they’ve seen, that is darn near all of what Tammy Duckworth talks about. Her service demands our thanks and respect, but not our vote. She is running for Congress – and there are real problems in this country like our massive debt, high unemployment and the Obamacare tax. We are about four months from Election Day and the people of Illinois have no idea where Tammy Duckworth stands on these issues because she dodges debate requests, ignores our invitations to speak at town halls, refuses to talk about solutions, and constantly reminds voters of her war service. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with her for her service and her loss but these are serious times and the people of Illinois deserve to know what she thinks about real issues and what she will do as a Congresswoman.” Let’s hold Tammy Duckworth and the Democrats accountable for trying these “gotcha tactics” when so many Americans are looking for solutions to the problems they face. - Joe Doesn't sound out of line to me.

Tammy Duckworth, from day one of entering politics, has tried to use her service to shield her from any criticism, and her supporters slander anyone who does criticize her as attacking her as a veteran, or questioning her patriotism. So, I see no reason to take her word for it this time, when she has done this over and over again in the past.

Read Joe’s statement. He’s complaining that she’s using her service to exclude discussion of all other relevant issues to the campaign. Yes, it is unfair, and typical Illinois pol tactics. No, probably not the brightest thing for Joe to say what he was thinking.

But she’s bad for the country. She’s pro-death, pro-Obamacare, pro-gun control, the worst of the worst. And she’s got a big, emotional campaign advantage she’s exploiting to the hilt, one that’ll work well on Illinois’ “dem zombie” voters. If I were Joe, I’m not sure how I would handle it. But I’m from Illinois, and Joe is OK. He’s the one we need if we want to put the hurt on Team Obama.

"I really don't care about her affiliation with Obama....."

You don't?

How about her close affiliation with hard-core leftist Illinois senator Dick Durbin.....or her affiliations with all the left-wing, anti-American organizations endorsing her and backing her financially?

I was an elected official for 20 years in her district. I'm familiar with her MO and tactics. She's bad news bears, playing on the wounded veteran gambit since the beginning of her political aspirations.

The top of this thread starkly shows how quick some kneejerk freepers are to attack a true conservative like Walsh on the basis of slanted media reports just to try to show us how much more "appreciative", how much more "noble", how much more "patriotic" they are in "supporting veterans" than we ungrateful ingrates who know Duckworth for who she is......even if the socialist vets they drool over are toxic left-wingers or radicals and bad for the country......like veterans Kerry and others of his ilk were and are.

well, then perhaps you are on the wrong forum Miss

you are slamming a lot of decent posters here just because they are not in a tither that a decent fellow is fighting back against Wonder Woman

your stance is typical won't fight back talk which has helped get us defeated over and over and which if Romney doesn't get his head in the game will happen yet again

get one thing straight about progressives, they will do anything to win and will then do everything they can after they win to use that power...period...in their mind they are fighting evil...."us"

*** Can anyone tell me the value of this kind of political attack simply to gain office? ***

Sure. Because I live in IL near where Tammy 'I Served In Iraq & Was Wounded' Duckworth lives and wants to run.

First of all, from her first run for Congress in 2006 she's used her 'wounded Iraq war veteran' status like Jesse and Rev Al use the Race Card. She's rabidly anti gun (she's a raving Moonbat) and wants more gun laws in IL, like a complete assault weapon ban. And when her first opponent confronted her on that STOO-PID idea she played her 'Wounded Veteran Card' and the 'I know those guns and you don't' bullcrap. She lost that election. Then iirc she tried again in 08 and used the same wounded vet sympathy card: 'I lost my legs in battle, Vote for me please'. And I believe again in 2010. Since then she's worked in the Barry O'Bammy Admin. (point is; she's run for congress a lot, always lost, and ALWAYS used her service as an election ploy.)

The fact is Tammy Duckworth is a far leftist Moonbat and uses her service and her wounds as a crutch (no pun). She practically begs for votes just on that - and No Guns in IL. She's a female John Kerry, only with real wounds, combined with a Rev Al & JJ race card player. So Joe Walsh was 100% correct. All Tammy will talk about is HER and her wounds. Not any issues that wil help IL or the District she's now running for. And by her own actions she's on the line of 'not being a REAL hero' (like the 99% Former Marines vs the 1% 'ex-Marines'). I know REAL Heroes, from that Vietnam thing, and they won't say shit about what they went through and had to do to survive. (1)

(1) Like my 'BFF' Den who was 7 days 'short'. He went on Patrol then ambushed by an NVA Regiment. He was one of about a dozen who made it back alive after that firefight -- out of an entire Infantry Company. I was the only one of 'the gang' he told that incident too. Those guys he only told about the 'typical firefights' with Tracers flying both ways and Claymores going off.
(I pray for Den a lot, he's got PTSD and BAD, but will not, and never did go begging for FedGov money or 'help'. His wife was and is his strength and support. Now that's a HERO!)

[please excuse any errors in the above. I'm typing with my Fender Stratocaster around my neck]
