The man was out of money and had no chance. That's not so inexplicable. Neither was Cain, neither was Perry, nor was Newt when they all dropped out one by one. None of them was a very good candidate and they split the conservative vote big time. Did all of them run in order to set up Romney?
Hey can you set Norm straight and remind him that I actually didn't believe that Palin was for sure going to run.
He needs help with his memory.
That's not how I remember it. Santorum's campaign was on fire, and he was running neck and neck with Romney when he suddenly dropped out of the race.
But not before he'd sucked enough votes away from Newt to guarantee his campaign's demise.
He could have held on. He was getting the votes, and could have even passed Romney, had he stayed in it. That was never the plan, though. I'm convinced that the decrepit GOPe manipulated the whole process from start to finish, including doing everything in their power to discourage Palin from running.

My memory ain't that sharp, Lake. I just remember that we were all staunch Palin supporters on FR. Perhaps you never voiced firm conviction that she'd run. I just don't recall. Sorry.
