Virgil Goode: Constitution Party Candidate for President [ What about Goode? Is he like Paul? ]

While all of the mainstream press focuses upon the phony horse race between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney for president, many Americans may be surprised to find that they will have several choices on their ballots in November. One of those other choices is the Constitution Party candidate Virgil H. Goode, Jr. and his vice presidential running mate, attorney Jim Clymer.

Labeled “Mr. Independent” by his home newspaper in Virginia, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, former six-term Virginia Congressman Virgil Goode has demonstrated a willingness to change parties when his principles did not comport with his party. Goode was elected to the Virginia state Senate as a Democrat, and served his first two terms as a congressman as a Democrat. But he became a political independent in the year 2000, and was reelected twice as an independent before switching to the Republican Party. Goode may have a major impact on the final race, as the former Virginia congressman is currently polling at five percent in the Virginia presidential primary. Virginia is a key swing state in the presidential race, and support for Goode could tilt the outcome of the state in the race.

I’m sure he’s a fine fellow.

Nothing says “Dem Win” like a Clintonian plurality.

The first time I ever noticed him he was giving a speech on the floor about a 17 time arrested drunk driving illegal finally being stopped when he killed a mother and her children.

Most important he was slamming his colleagues because he was speaking in a near empty house because they couldn’t care less about the American people. After all, congressmen are busy people who have meetings with lobbyists and donors.

That was probably 10 years ago.

no, but although a very good man, he is totally irrelevant and worthy of no, zero, presidential consideration.

Is Virgil good as an alternative to Obama and Mitt?

To some,Ross Perot was a fine guy.He got something like 20% of the popular vote in '92.He fared less well in the Electoral Vote.He got...wait for it...nearly *one* Electoral Vote.Something like 269 Electoral Votes are needed to be elected President.

America's Community Organizer-In-Chief smiles quietly (actually, not so quietly) when people speak of staying home on 11/6...or voting for anyone but Romney.

Maybe Conservatives should check out Goode, and where he stands on the issues

At least, with a definite base of support around a 3d Party Conservative, Romney wises up

But, you will hear the Liberal RINO whine of “If you vote 3d Party Conservative, you help elect Obama”...of course, this liberal RINO rhetoric always gets us a liberal RINO GOP candidate which cannot ever beat a liberal Dem candidate.

He has my vote, if he is on the ballot.

Virg wasn’t on the R primary ballot here in Indiana.

I can confirm that:

The over under for Goode is .2% of the vote. I will take the under.

This story implies that Goode is polling 5% in his home state of Va.

That may well be enough to tip it to Baraq.

And those possibly could be Baraq's clinching electoral votes.

Ross Perot is more like it. Only an America hating idiot would consider voting for this guy. A vote for Goode is as goode as a vote for obama.

You better get off your hinders and start canvassing neighborhoods for the Conservative - and it ain't mitt - instead of complaining because Conservatives won't vote for a liberal.

Stop making excuses and get to work.

I'd take over.

The constitution party got .15% of the vote last time.

But last time you had Ralph Nader running independent which drew .56% and you had Bob Barr heading up the Libertarians which drew 0.4%.
