FWIW I did when I spotted a US flag upside down at a local KFC. The employees were laughing when I confronted them but not so much when I got the national HQ involved. There should be a FR thread about it but it has been a long time.

It is NOT A symbol. It is a means of communication of dire, life threating conditions. While the situation in DC is serious it does not meet the standard for an upside down flag! Are you going to fire up your amateur radio and start sending SOS?

It is disrespectful and wrong. My neighbor down the street did this until low and behold Scott Brown was elected and suddenly the "crisis" was over.
If you fly our proud flag upside down over politics, you are being childish. Fly other flags if you wish, but do not disrespect the banner I fought under.
