Newly uncovered documents posted on a blog show that two ancestors of Massachusetts U.S. Senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren were listed on government forms as “white,” despite the Democratic candidate repeatedly saying that she comes from Native American heritage.

Cherokee genealogist Twila Barnes posted census data on her blog this weekend that she says shows that Warren’s mother, Pauline Herring, listed herself as “white” in 1940.

Barnes also posted a death certificate for Warren’s “Aunt Bea,” who was listed as “white” on the form. Elizabeth Warren’s name is listed on the death certificate.

The Democratic candidate once famously cited her Aunt Bea’s characteristically Native American “high cheekbones”as evidence of her American-Indian ancestry.

Warren has been embroiled in a controversy over her claimed heritage ever since it was revealed that the Harvard law professor once touted herself as an American Indian minority.

She has since struggled to prove this, and critics argue that she claimed that heritage to further her career.

Barnes’ revelation that Warren’s mother identified as “white” conflicts with a story she has told about her parents eloping over her mother’s heritage.

“In the 1930s, when my parents got married, these were hard issues,” Warren said. “My father’s family so objected to my mother’s Native American heritage that my mother told me they had to elope.”

The "volumes" are easily discovered on the net. Not all Cherokee are nice people. At least one band has been engaged with the the Delaware off and on for more than a century ~ much of it about taking back land they'd sold, and whether or not the other guys are really Indians.

It's great reading. BTW, I wouldn't talk to those particular Cherokee either until they showed me their blue ID cards so I could find out what bad they purported to represent. Fur Shur I wouldn't talk to them if they were the guys trying to kick out the black Cherokee.

First, let me say that Warren is a complete fraud but in all fairness, my original birth certificate says I am “white”. Later when my tribe started to organize and make a roll, my dad had us kids legally changed to Indian. Of course my mom (3/4) and grandmother and her mother were still living and on the rolls. Both full blood. Warren can’t come up with any blood what so ever. My point being , how much does “white” mean on ones BC?

No, No, No, Elizabeth Warren isn't 'white' in the traditional sense of being Caucasian, she is white in the sense of being an albino, and through the generations, through interbreeding and excessive applications of Coppertone(c), her family finally began to take on the color of Native Americans, i.e., that sorta dark beige pigmentation which is complimented with head feathers and cheap moccasins that are sold at Pedro's 'South of the Border' conveniently located on I-95, just down the road from Boston.

I do not understand why this is still in doubt. With the Cherokee tribe, you are only Cherokee if the government said so. If you cannot trace direct linage to a person on the Dawes roll then you are NOT a Cherokee. That is how the government sees it, that is how the Cherokee tribe sees it. I was always told two branches of my family were Cherokee- found one branch on the Dawes roll, not the other. There were likely many Cherokee that for one reason or another were not listed, but you are NOT Cherokee if you don’t have an ancestor on there.

She's a post-modern “progressive.” Thus, the fact that she felt herself to be a Cherokee in her inner narrative is far more important than actual, factual, inconvenient truth.

Look at the polls: None of her lies have hurt her support. The people of Massachusetts are going to elect a fantasist to the US Senate.

But it should come as no surprise. She's hardly the only prominent political figure who has trouble telling the truth about who she actually is, and who is more concerned with fictions in that regard than facts.
