Democrats had a little trouble with their messaging yesterday in the wake of what should have been a big victory for them last week at the Supreme Court. Instead, the legal victory has given way to a huge political headache, and perhaps even a linguistic headache as well. How can Democrats argue that ObamaCare isn’t a huge tax when the Supreme Court decision that upheld it clearly states that it’s only constitutional as a huge tax? Nancy Pelosi tried arguing that it’s not a tax but a penalty when challenged by David Gregory on Meet the Press, but even she couldn’t spit that one out cleanly:
“It’s a ta—; it’s a penalty for free riders,” Pelosi said, nearly uttering the dreaded T-word before cutting herself off.
Actually, Pelosi slips twice in this clip. The first time comes when she asks Gregory, “Well, who is the ta — who is the penalty on?” Obviously, Pelosi hasn’t grown comfortable with the official Democratic nomenclature

IF it’s a penalty, it fall under the commerce clause and is unconstitutional. It’s the largest tax increase in history and YOU are the cause of it. Take a hike.
Yeah. Go ahead. Laugh at the RATS. But you know why this does NOT matter?????? Because Eric Fehrnstrum (Senior Romney advisory), under SPECIFIC questioning, came out this morning and said SPECIFICALLY that . . . he agreed. It is NOT a tax.

....as if he wants to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory,"....
....by proclaiming (and thus undercutting the Republicans who are going after B. Hussein Obama) that the fee is a "penalty" and not a tax.

The “penalty” is collected by the IRS and goes to the US Treasury. What would be different if it were a tax?
Remember hearing about dhimmitude - the tax that non-muslims have to pay to muslims? Well, Obamacare gives all non-muslims Obamitude.

The IR$ has one basic function to collect taxes forced on us by progressives.
The individual Supreme tax mandate will not be an option for those without a health plan. They will be paying a surtax based on yearly income, and if anyone thinks that the Obozo Supreme IRS will wait until the end of the year to collect these new mandated Supreme Taxes. They should check how the Obozo Supreme IRS handles FICA taxes. FICA taxes are deducted from each paycheck for each pay period. Those who are independent contractors have to pay quarterly along with their regular income taxes.
We should not be suprised when the legislatures in the deep blue states like Californicator land vote for an automatic 10-15% tax of the Supreme Tax to pay for their expenses. Then watch the counties and cities in those deep blue states impose their own % of the Supreme Tax.
Is it me, or does anyone else think it strange that the Democrats have chosen to use the term “free-riders” as a talking point. Seriously, the Democratic Party is a coalition of free-riders. What would the Democratic Party be without them. Support for Obamacare comes from free-riders.
