Supreme Court ruling will cost Dems in local races

Court decisions result in elections that have consequences.

Who is going to pay a high price in November for last Thursday’s U.S. Supreme court’s ruling?

Here in Massachusetts, it wasn’t a good day for Liz Warren’s ailing campaign. Not only does the decision re-energize Republicans and Tea Party patriots to rally around Sen. Scott Brown, but it also undercuts attempts of the millionaire house flipper to relate to the middle class.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, “75 percent of individual mandate penalties will fall on those making less than $250,000.” That makes her endorsement of Obamacare and its 21 tax increases Public Enemy No. 1 for the middle class.

“Voters will punish Democrats for being tax increasers. Senate seats that were considered to lean Democrat will now begin moving Republican. Without a doubt, it will be a major boost for Brown. Look for him to see a boost of 3 percent to 5 percent from this,” says pollster David Johnson of Strategic Vision.

Despite the victory lap by partisan Vicki Kennedy, the Kennedy clan’s Stepford Democrat Joe Kennedy 3.0 will suffer in the polls. Maybe she thinks all the new IRS agents are going to help collect more money for Teddy’s shrine, but in reality it also puts the silver spoon-fed JoeK3 on the record as supporting middle class tax increases.

My favorite line in his 92-word statement was suggesting it was a victory “for young adults who won’t get thrown off their parents’ policies.” If they are adults, aren’t they supposed to be responsible for themselves? It is an ironic remark coming from a guy who just moved out of mommy’s house to run for Congress. Was he hoping that the coverage would be extended to 32-year-olds?

For another Democrat, congressman John Tierney, it might be the death knell. With his Republican opponent Richard Tisei already leading by 7 points, another 3 to 5 will likely seal the deal. Tierney tried to spin the ruling by stating “the middle-class families who will see their health care costs decrease.” That’s no more believable than his claims that he knew nothing about his wife’s illegal activities.

“This massive tax increase will make the bloodbaths that Democrats suffered in 1994 and 2010 seem like nothing. Voters know you don’t raise taxes in a bad economy and exact revenge on those who do, especially when these same politicians promised no new taxes for the middle class,” added Johnson.

The Supreme Court delivered a double-edge decision with consequences. ---- Holly Robichaud is a Republican strategist.

Is Robichaud from New England? I didn't think New Englanders had much of a sense of humor, but this paragraph is downright side-splitting funny:

Local races maybe, national races for sure. My idiot rat congressman (Yarmuth) was on Fox and Friends this AM, showing the world just what an out of touch, elitist ass he really is.

Too bad Robichaud isn’t writing speeches for Milquetoast Mitt. Nah...he couldn’t deliver the tough lines believably anyway.

I am sick and tired of all the Mitt bashing on this board - especially since the Supreme Court ruling.

Obama is the enemy. If you think Romney a more dangerous enemy then go out and start working to get your local conservatives elected.

The Obama administration has issued hundreds to exemptions to Obamacare to various groups—all friends of Obama. Will these exemptions stand? How can Obama exempt some from the health care tax and require others to pay? The exemptions should now be null and void.

Looks as though Romney understands the “rule of holes.” Which states that when your opponent is busy digging his, you don’t interrupt him. FUBO is burning money in his campaign like he’s been doing with the country’s treasury. I would look for Romney to start his ad campaign in earnest now that his officially the nominee. Personally, I hope he says less rather than more.
