'Environmental Warrior' Mayor Bloomberg cools his SUV with a wall unit AC
Daily Mail ^ | 06/27/2012 | By JAMES NYE

You couldn't make it up, but New York Mayor Bloomberg's latest contribution to a greener environment is to attach a full-sized room air conditioner unit to the side of his SUV. The low-tech solution to Mr Bloomerg's famous dislike of the heat in fact causes less pollution than running the vehicle's own air-condtioning while its engine is idle. And in full view of confused and amused tourists and passers-by, workers outside City Hall yesterday attached the familiar looking air-conditioning unit to a specially designed out-sized box on the passenger window of the New York Mayor's car.

Take away his SUV and stick him on a stinking public bus and he won’t need his portable AC unit.

He could just cool off with a 16oz Coke...oh wait.

I remember reading in a business mag about an upstart soda company in NYC.

I'm pretty sure it was mostly started by some black guys. 20oz for the same price or lower as a Coke/Pepsi 16oz.

The drivers for the Coke & Pepsi distributors started rumors that the CIA was dosing the 20oz with sterility drugs or the like.

What the Nazi Bloomberg is creating with his food police are barriers to competition and newcomers, not too mention innovation.

But hey, he already made his billions...and he's a Dem, and rules don't apply to limousine liberals.

And if they did, he'd just fly the NYC Council down to the Caribbean for a week on his private jet, as he has done before, and somehow, the laws get changed.

Small window units run off 110-120 volts.

Cars use 12 Volts./

What does power this unit.

They make converters, but most wouldn’t supply the load of an air conditioner.Maybe he has a small Generator in the trunk.

If this is mobile it is using power that came from the engine in some way or another.

I believe research in the 70s showed that the auto air conditioning of that time used less additional fuel than leaving windows wide open on the highway did. Modern units are even better.

But, I have to give Bloomie some redneck creds for this!

Your talking about Tropical Fantasy brand soda. It was made in an old Coke plant over on Brooklyn. It wasn't that good of a soda, but it was cheap. Out of the clear blue one day. a rumor was started that the CIA was putting drugs in it, that were supposedly making blacks sterile. Typical conspiracy nonsense. In April 1991 rumors began circulating in neighborhoods that the beverage was laced with a secret ingredient that would sterilize men.[2] The beverage quickly earned the nickname “Tropical Fanticide.” The rumors claimed that the Ku Klux Klan was actually bottling the product and using the low price to attract poor citizens. Later that year the rumor spread rapidly and provoked violence in many city neighborhoods. Attacks occurred on delivery trucks and storekeepers who stocked Tropical Fantasy.

Due to these rumors and rising suspicions, sales of the beverage plummeted by 70%.

By mid June 1991 the attacks had stopped and the sales had rebounded, but the dark rumors about Tropical Fantasy were not forgotten. Even today, the rumors are still circulating. Many young teenagers refer to the beverages as “Nutties”, mainly due to the rumor that it kills sperm. This is not however limited to the Tropical Fantasy beverage. Other beverages such as “City Club”, “Top Pop”, and “C&C”, are ridiculed in exactly the same way.
