LOS ANGELES (CBS) Rev. Al Sharpton and other civil rights leaders are expected to attend Rodney Kings funeral on Saturday afternoon.
The service at the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., family spokeswoman Kali Bowyer said.
The Reverend will deliver the eulogy at the cemetery where King will be laid to rest.
The 47-year-old, who was found unresponsive at the bottom of his pool in Rialto, died June 17.
Kings death is being treated as an accidental drowning but authorities say they are awaiting autopsy results to determine an official cause of death.
King was a longtime resident of Rialto. He became known worldwide in 1991 when his arrest and beating by four LAPD officers was captured on videotape.
The officers involved in the incident were acquitted the following year, prompting the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
King was later awarded $3.8 million in a civil suit against the city of Los Angeles but continued to get in trouble with law enforcement over the next two decades.
He hasn’t been buried yet?
One would think it prudent that the mortuary demanded payment in advance.
Ha!.. how proper! :)

How about a swim while in SoCal, Al?
Showing profound disrespect for a troubled but basically decent man. When he was alive he told this vultures to pound sand. Now he’s dead they come to feast on his carcass.
Sharpie is one of those guys who seems to show up EVERYWHERE.
You can imagine what his private jet fuel bill is every year.
Bet they pass the plate.
The tremor you feel will be Mr. King spinning in his grave.
or his carbon-credit bill.
remember the movie Wedding Crashers?
I guess Black KKK Racist Al Sharpton needed a break from lynching George Zimmerman
Fitting, one steaming pantload POS AMF sending off a carbon copy....
Yes, sort of like the black, male version of Gloria Allred.
Whew, what a relief.
:-\
This is just one of the things this “basically decent man” did in his life.
I feel no desire to show respect for this person. Your mileage may vary.
