I’m headed to the gun shop. Anybody need anything?
There is a list of about 100 different Groups that are exempt, and growing. It has been posted on here.
And that is a reason why there will be lawsuits aplenty against this statute.
I am an Indian.
My grandfather had high cheekbones.
I once saw a South Park episode about Scientology — I am exempt.
I am against paying for abortions or sex change operations on religious grounds as a Catholic. If I get my priest to use the word “haaram” in my application will I be exempted?
A tax based upon RELIGION.
What is next? A tax based upon COLOR?
And party affiliation?
How about books read?
How can our government give favor to Muslims, and not permit other religions the equal treatment.
The government is not allowed to establish a favored religion.
Christians believe that funding or supporting abortion in any way, shape or form is haraam, or forbidden; because they liken the act of ending the unborn child's life to murder.
If we could only stand in one accord for one moment in time...
Akbar whatever. I’m exempt.
I have no problem with their exemption as long as they pay cash up front for any medical services they need.
Just Call me Achmed!
and yet Catholic organizations are forced to purchase abortion insurance
Maybe the Pope needs to declare abortion “haraam”
This isn’t true.
There is no monolithic “Islam” in the US or anywhere else in the world.
While some small sects might qualify, to do so they must simultaneously gain a religious exemption from Social Security, and no Muslim sect in the US has done so already, and no sect is in the process of doing so AFAIK.
It is possible for very strict Islamic sects to qualify for exemptions, none have done so to date.
To put it in perspective, saying “No Obamacare for Muslims (EXEMPT!!!!)” because a small sect of Muslims are exempt is equivalent to saying No Obamacare for Christians (EXEMPT!!!!) because the Christian Scientists Sect is exempt.
Great, just claim to be a Mooselimb and we’ll all be exempt.
Sorry, no one is exempt from a TAX.
I hang Indian corn on my door in the Autumn. That qualifies, doesn’t it?
How about playing an Indian an a 3rd grade play on Thanksgiving?
Lemme get this straight. A library which puts a nativity scene on its front lawn is a “law regarding the establishment of religion” but a Federal statute that specificlly gives certain benefits based solely on religion and denied to other religions isn’t? Why should we have any moral obligation to obey such a corrput and repressive government?
