Rep. Allen West on Friday called Nancy Pelosi “somewhat delusional” for refusing to say that the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act constitutes a tax, and likened the mandate to forcing people to “buy a 9mm Glock.”
“I think that former Speaker Pelosi is somewhat delusional,” West said on Fox News. “You have to remember that this is the person who said that we have to pass this bill in order to find out what is in his bill. So there has been a deception against the American people from the onset.”

After the Supreme Court upheld President Barack Obama’s health care law Thursday, Republicans pounced on the president and Democratic lawmakers for having argued during the health care debate that the individual mandate was not a tax. The high court said in its decision that Congress could require almost all Americans to buy health insurance through its authority to tax.
Asked whether the mandate constitutes a tax, Pelosi, emphasizing what the legislation achieves rather than how it achieves it, told reporters, “Call it what you will, it is a step forward for America’s families, and you know what? Take yes for an answer.”
West on Friday called the court ruling a “horrific decision” that grants “unprecedented taxation authority” to the federal government.
“If I were to go out and say that every person in the United States of America needs to go out and buy a 9mm Glock, or else they will be taxed, I wonder how the people such as Nancy Pelosi on the other side of the aisle would react to that,” the Florida Republican said. “That really is the precedent that has been established.”

It’s been a deception all along. The sense of urgency they wanted to pass it without reading it. Then the stupidity of Pelosi’s statement. Their denials it constituted a “tax”
They have to deceive and count on enough ignorant voters, which pretty makes up their constituencies.
