"[I]n the 1980s, the political psychologist Philip E. Tetlock began systematically quizzing 284 political experts - most of whom were political science Ph.D.'s - on dozens of basic questions, like whether a country would go to war, leave NATO or change its boundaries or a political leader would remain in office. His book "Expert Political Judgment: How Good Is It? How Can We Know?" won the A.P.S.A.'s prize for the best book published on government, politics or international affairs.
Professor Tetlock's main finding? Chimps randomly throwing darts at the possible outcomes would have done almost as well as the experts."
You could pretty much say this about the Obamacare case. Hundreds of pages of analysis and predictions and few if any reflected the final, rather surprising outcome: Four ,and potentially five justices if one reads Roberts carefully, have for the first time since the FDR court recognized there are substantial limitations on the power of Congress to regulate behavior under the cloak of the Constitution's Commerce Clause and, just as significantly, seven justices determined that Congress cannot blackmail the states into accepting new federal programs by threatening to cut off funding under existing programs should they refuse to accept the expanded programs.
(a) First looks at the opinion suggest the gloom of many conservatives is not warranted: The decision has much to commend it.

Just another take on the recent Supreme Court decision.
It is difficult to assay or figure out what drives some ones decision but here are some conclusions which do believe hold water. Any one who has even a remote grip on reality, and is not a complete idiot realizes that the Healthcare bill as it stand now is nothing short of a total failure and will detrimentally impact the economic health of this nation even more so that it will aid the ones in need of medical assistance. I do believe that Chief Justice John Roberts has a brilliant mind and I seriously doubt that he could not envision all the bad things which would far outweigh the benefits of this flawed bill.
Further, John Roberts is also a human and from what I recall in some form or another, he had a not so favorable encounter with Obama while he made some derogatory remarks, in the mean time I forgot the specifics, but I am sure John Roberts, quietly and to himself thought “My friend, your day will be coming” and the day may have come when he rendered his verdict and it was his way to get even in a polite manner. I am quite sure while he was in a conundrum and contemplating how to approach the whole situation and still appear to be fair he may have come to the conclusion to let the public have the final say come next elections.
Being a smart man he knew quite well that a good portion of the public was already dead set against this faulty bill which would hit them full force economically as well as directly in their pocket books. So it would take very little to inspire and fire them up even more, to take drastic action come next election by means of giving Obama a vote of no confidence and boot him out of office. In a round about way he may have dug a hole for Obama, who thought he may have won the battle but in the end will lose the war.
I in the event John Roberts mind may not have been quite as devious as mine and this was not planned, it still may work out in this manner as the final decision will rest with the public who is fed up with all the crap this regime has pushed down their throat and finally may see a way to get even, come next election.
This is my take, Saintgermaine
A colleague of mine has a son who just graduated from an elite liberal arts college. Told me his son and all his 20-something skulls full of mush friends were all celebrating last night because “now our health care will be FREE!”
Scary. Don’t waste tuition on these places.
He and his friends will find out, when they're 27, and their parents are no longer paying for their health insurance, just how expensive something 'free' can be.
