Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy slammed his colleagues for a vast judicial overreaching on Thursday by upholding key provisions of President Barack Obamas health care law.
Reading his dissent from the bench, Kennedy wasted little time explaining where he and the courts conservative justices stood on the Affordable Care Act.

Obama wanted to make a statement. He made the Chief justice rule in his favor. There is something very wrong with this.
It is amazing Kennedy shows more sense than Roberts.
“You vote ‘no’ and I’ll vote ‘yes’ said Roberts to Kennedy.
And there was a “great deceiver” who proceeded him.
Definitely DC politics. We’re all still putting the pieces together to figure out how we got here, where we are now, and what it all means. May take a few days.
What recourse do the people have regarding Kagan and her obligation to recuse herself from this case? I suppose I am a bit ignorant on the technicalities?
This does not make any sense. Roberts would NOT vote this way if there was not some kind of threat.
Why wouldn’t similar threats be made against the others who voted against? Why was Roberts so special?
You put way too much faith in Roberts. He is a pragmatist. This is not his first iffy judgement.
I think he’s been hanging out on the DC cocktail circuit and it’s gone to his head.
I agree. I've listened to pundits and lawyers today on TV, radio, and read some of their opinions online.
I'm still appalled at how Roberts ruled, and I'm not sure I'll ever understand it. Seems to me Roberts is more concerned about "the integrity of the court" and with his "legacy" than about the United States of America.
I highly doubt it. I looked at the Lopez and Morrison cases and predicted Kennedy would vote to strike down the ACA. He did so. I think as Chief, Roberts made a political move-—a move that is disastrous.
It is simpler than that nutmeg. Given Arizona and Obamacare it is evident that Roberts is a lawless megalomaniac. He rewrote the statute to fit into the Constitution. Separation of powers? Yuck, yuck. Tax bills originating in the house? How silly, they originate at SCOTUS. Sovereign states? Not in Robert’s Rules of America. This is just another Harvard liberal backstabbing bastard.
Why wouldnt similar threats be made against the others who voted against? Why was Roberts so special?
Head justice. Obama propaganda
You put way too much faith in Roberts. He is a pragmatist. This is not his first iffy judgement.
You may be right. I just don’t put past anything Obama does.
Good point. You may be correct. We’ll see how it plays.
CJ Felcher has a special seat waiting for him in Hell.
There is no recourse... that requires rule of law... roberts killed that today.
