(KCEN) -- Shortly after the Supreme Court handed down their ruling on the health care bill, Texas Gov. Rick Perry released a statement with his reactions to the Court's decision.
Perry said, "This ruling will be a stomach punch to the American economy. It is a shocking disappointment to freedom-loving Americans desperate to get our country back on track. Obamacare is bad for the economy, bad for health care, bad for freedom. Americans have made clear their overwhelming opposition to its convoluted, burdensome and overreaching mandates."
His response was not the only one released. Several other local politicians reacted to the Supreme Court's decision as well.
Perry also said, "Freedom was frontally attacked by passage of this monstrosity - and the Court utterly failed in its duty to uphold the Constitutional limits placed on Washington. Now that the Supreme Court has abandoned us, we as citizens must make action at every level of government and demand real reform, done with respect for our Constitution and our liberty."
That’s my candidate — I wish
I love this response. Let’s see which other leaders still have some stones.
I’d like to hear Newt’s feelings BUT I’d bet he is using his skills in an advisory capacity to Romney. Newt has political skills that Romney lacks.
Mitt/Perry?
Yup! Most of us that knew the bull dog Newt was our only real candidate but some of the ill thinking kept putting him down. The ability to work the corrupt Federal machine was one of the most important attribute Newt has. And his Constitutional understanding was equally important. So went Newt, so went America. Romney is a poor substitute but it is all we have now. Sometimes I wonder what the hell some Americans are.
Hasn't been doing that for over a century now, they're a bunch of eunuchs.
I’d love to see Perry in the WH, but having him in his current position leading the fight for state’s rights is about the next best thing.
My son in Texas had just sent this to me also. I’m counting the days until I move to Texas, the closest place left to the America of my youth.
Republic of TEXAS!
Lot of folks on this board picked Romney/Santorum/Gingrich, etc. over Perry for this campaign.
Based on some debate stuff.
It becomes clearer and clearer that Perry was the conservative mensch that would draw the clearest line between what we have and what we need.
But we got what we got. And I wonder if we’ll ever get past the surface and start to really look at these guys and what we really need fighting for us.
Aw, dammit! I’ll just shut up.
