Robert’s vote will be a huge plus in November elections. Now, we all small government types are more energized to vote. It is not his job to decide if a law is good or bad. That is upto voters-—>congress-—>president.

That is what elections are for.

Elections most assuredly including primaries and all the stuff that leads INTO primaries like publicity. The people who did not vote in GOP primaries this year but could have, would have sufficed in principle to get Herman Cain or Newt Gingrich or whatever not-Mitt into the nomination.

Obama, in the meantime, just gained a quantum leap in stink. What has he to say about this — who cares? Obamacare was his totally 100% partisan baby and he can’t burn THAT birth certificate.

This ruling has energized the country. Roberts knows the individual mandate is unconstitutional. It is not mere bad law, it is unconstitutional!

Yeah, then we get a big-government liberal Republican like Mitt Romney into the White House, all while pretending we're winning something.

Talk about being optimistic when there is one drop of water left in the cup.

Let's hope it is a Pyrrhic victory for the bad guys.

Clinton sent Elian to Castro. That may have made the difference in Bush beating Gore in Florida. Of course Bush gave us Roberts, but think of how bad anyone Gore would have put on the Court would have been.

It's too soon to despair of the Republic--Obama could be defeated in November--but I think Patrick Henry was on to something when he opposed the Constitution because it gave too much power to the federal government.

The Anti-Federalists: the forgotten heroes of American history.

It wasn’t for him to decide “good” or “bad,” no. But unconstitutional or constitutional, yes. That’s what judicial review is for.

It is not his job to decide if a law is good or bad.

But it is his job to decide if a law is constitutional. Do you *really* believe the authors of the Constitution would approve of this decision? A decision that gives total, unchecked, unlimited power to the Federal Government to tax...anything!

Oh, by the way, remeber back when the Scott Brown election was supposed to decide something? What was it again...oh yeah, nothing. Because Congress zigged and zagged around its own rules and managed to pass Obamacare without anyone knowing how. Then there was the Republican majority that gave us Medicare, Part D and the Ted Kennedy education bill. Elections matter less than you think.

Nice spin. Trouble is, Roberts twisted words to achieve a facade of reasonableness. The bill calls for financial penalties on behavior deemed "antisocial" by the gubmint. The fedgov has income taxes, sales taxes, excise taxes, death taxes, but no taxes on behavior. When is the last time you paid a "tax" after getting a traffic ticket instead of a "fine?"

Roberts' opinion is based on a lie. He has sold out, for whatever reason. Calling a financial penalty a tax does not make it one.

I agree with that. As far as being energized to vote, I am afraid that FReepers will be bystanders. 1/2 of the people here are still debating if the previous Obama opponent or current Obama oponent is worth supporting ...

Let's fast forward to 2016: Obama is ending 2nd term. He appointed 3 more justices, replacing 2 frail liberals and Scalia. Obama appointees now have a 5:4 majority. Obamacare is now fully implemented. The US unemployment is higher than French unemployment, officially in teens now (reaching 13%).

As Obama leaves office, he leaves another legacy behind. Webster dictionary added 2 entries to the dictionary: Obamacare and triple-dip (recession).

The talk on FR in 2016 will be: "If we only nominated real conservative in 2008 (Romney rather than McCain) and in 2012 (Gingrich rather than Romney), none of this would have happened."
