RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, yesterday Mitt Romney blew it with the response to all the immigration rulings at the Supreme Court. And the Obama administration reaction to it. And the regime basically telling Arizona, "We don't care. We're gonna have spies tattling on you if you start stopping people," and so forth. Yesterday was a warning, I think. Yesterday was a red flag for the Romney team. Yesterday... And it's the first time in a long time. It's the first time I have thought this in a long time. The Romney team was not ready for primetime on this illegal immigration, the Arizona decision.
This is not the time to get too cocky. I know that the Romney campaign is basically saving it all up for after the Olympics, and I understand that. But this is too consequential a week. What's happening this week is going to have legs, and there will be memories associated with it. You can't live off of all of Obama's gaffes like, "The private sector is doing fine." You can't live off that forever. Had that decision happened in the fall on a debate night with Obama pandering away the way he was?
And if Romney's response yesterday had happened in a debate? It would have been a big win for Obama, for the community organizer. Now, health care is coming up Thursday, and it's time to get the ducks back in a row. I'm just saying, folks. I was a little surprised. The Romney camp has been superb. They've had their rapid response stuff ready to go. I know that there's fear about the Hispanic vote, fear of angering it and so forth. But unless we're gonna pander to 'em the way Obama does...
And if we do that, we're gonna lose. We can't outpander Obama. We can't promise a bigger government than Obama will promise. We can't promise that. Not with credibility. That's not who we are. We can't promise this kind of stuff. And if that's the attempt, as a defensive measure, so as not to offend them...? Well, then, fine. I don't think you offended anybody, but you didn't gain anything. And we are about gaining things. The future of the country is riding on this stuff. There's got to be more than a tepid response
He’s still waiting for his fax from the Sinolas.
Thanks for the nasty comment about Rush. Maybe you should join the health Nazis and Alinskyites and Karen Klein’s tormenters if you think calling someone “fat ass” is going to change minds.
Romney is a disaster and, sadly, I’m probably going to vote for him. And hate myself for it. Jim, don’t ban me!!!
calling Rush a F** A**....... Really? How Dare you, IMHO. Rush is RIGHT. Did Moochelle send you?
Which of the GOP did YOU hear talking about the AZ issue yesterday besides Jan Brewer, Sen. Kyl and Sheriff Joe? I own property in AZ and I do NOT like the open border, tattle on your local law enforcement guy and the “come on in” to the USA attitude. I say NEVER ever give citizenship if you EVER broke the law getting here. NEVER. Work permit, NOT citizenship. Romney reminds me a lot of Dole, Ford, Juan McLaim. Sickening.
Rush is on OUR side - don’t doubt him!
Mormon leaders wouldn't be pleased with him if he interfered with the message that 52,000 mormon missionaries are out in the world spreading.
Salt Lake leaders likely influence everything Mitt says.
I said Rush was right, and he is a fat-ass.
The only material difference between Romney and Zero is the amount of melanin in the skin..... They are both ... repeat both ... squishy liberals.... More East coast hogwash.
He tried this before. He tried to out-liberal Ted Kennedy and failed miserably.
And he's trying it again right now.... again with a voting bloc he's never going to get.
It's stupid. Running away like a scared little girl from conservative positions is not a campaign strategy.
I understand that, and I take it that is the position of the entire GOP as well as their candidate, because none of them have said or done anything of consequence related to this matter.
All Romney had to say was that he would uphold ALL the laws of the US equally.
How will Obama's Illegal Immigration policy help Americans least able to compete for scarce jobs?
Which of these groups of Americans will benefit from Obama's new actions on illegal immigration?
The Elderly.
Single moms going to school.
The Unskilled.
The undereducated .
Those working on job training.
Blacks.
Teens.
Inner city youths.
College students.
Part time single moms.
Public employee members in our Law Enforcement.
Other than the carbon remaining here , what's the difference between off shoring jobs and bringing offshore workers here?
You do know Jim Robs rules regarding Rush do you not?
I happen to agree STRONGLY with JR on that point, so if you’re not here posting anymore, well, I may have had something to do with that.
“Romney is a disaster and, sadly, Im probably going to vote for him. And hate myself for it. Jim, dont ban me!!!”
Or you could stand on the shoulders of our founding fathers, defend their(and your) principles and not vote for him.
Preach it Mountain Mary! Now that’s what I’m talkin bout.
So, FReeper's arent' disagreeing with me...they're disagreeing with El Rushobo ;)
He has to think “opposite” on everything, which is discombobulating for a person, so he will be extraordinarily dependent on instructors to give him his “current” positions during the campaign.
It will be awhile before he can fake thinking on his feet.
Maybe the GOPe and Mittens do not like Arizona getting uppity about being raped by illegals just like Bam.
Maybe your progressive Messiah could just have him shot.
I’ve been on FR a long time and I am unaware of any “rules” regarding Rush. Please spell ‘em out to me.
No, I didn’t post anything about Rush but I am interested in hearing about these “rules”.
The ‘rules’, as you dismissively call them, in this case; don’t attack or speak ill of Rush.
It will get you zotted by JR.
You can be as dismissive of me as you want, you can even use the dismissive liberal laugh at me, Im sure many posters have, but theyve been zotted by JR, so we can no longer be sure if they did or not.
