I wondered why they were addressing her as Karen. I think it’s a big mistake for an adult to allow children to address them by their fist name as that alone diminishes adult authority.

My neighbor is named Joe Multiplesyllablealmost unpronouncablelastname, he wants my kids to call him Joe. He is an exception to my rule with the kids.

I agree completely, but this is because the parents and the teachers don't teach the children to address adults as Mister Mrs or Ms.

I am 70 years old and nothing ticks me more off then then when I go to a Beauty shop for a haircut and style and the person who; is at least 40 or 50 years younger then I am, takes my order asks me for my first name. I always tell them I am Mrs (My last name) And make sure the Mrs part is especially loud and clear.

It seems tat this is happening more often. The taboo on children calling adults by their first names seems to be fading away, which is unfortunate.
