I agree completely, but this is because the parents and the teachers don't teach the children to address adults as Mister Mrs or Ms.
I am 70 years old and nothing ticks me more off then then when I go to a Beauty shop for a haircut and style and the person who; is at least 40 or 50 years younger then I am, takes my order asks me for my first name. I always tell them I am Mrs (My last name) And make sure the Mrs part is especially loud and clear.

Uncles and aunts don’t usually take this convention in the US, probably because otherwise a child would likely have multiple “Uncle Smiths” (and “Aunt Jones” if she’s single).

Kids now do not know the appellation "Mrs." All adult females are "Ms." in government schools (you old-fashioned, sexist pig).
When the students ask for my first name, I tell them, "Mister, didn't I just tell you that?"
