Although former House Speaker and presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was smeared as “racist” by many Democrats and members of the main stream media for declaring Barack Obama “the food stamp president,” it turns out that, according to the USDA, being a “food stamp president” is really hip.

In fact, the nation’s agricultural agency says, in a recent video ad,

“...according to the USDA, being a “food stamp president” is really hip.”

Except that paying for your lunch using food stamps is just sending the check to your neighbor’s house.

Is there some reason your neighbor should be paying for your lunch?

But, yeah, being a thief is is “really hip” these days.

Since the USDA runs the federal food stamp program, they’re bound to like it. It garners additional funding.

It’s similar to the way most social workers, at least the managers, don’t want people leaving the system. If a manager’s AOR loses “clients,” they lose case workers. They don’t want their “empire” to shrink.

I work for a retired Air Force Captain. He and his wife often take in “strays.” A young woman with an infant stayed with them for a few months. She had enough on her card at the end of the month that she could purchase a butt load of steaks to take to friends houses for parties. That’s after buying formula, diapers and the rest.

When's the last time you heard of an American starving to death? I can't recall either. We're supersized. Obama dishes pork to the gaunt and gorged alike. Primum non nocere!

How can you be healthier if all your food cart contains is cookies, candy, soda, chips and other empty calorie foods? Been in line behind to many using EBT cards. And you and your kids are 50-100+ lbs OVER WEIGHT!

Only thing limited by food stamps is none edible foods. Buy lots of dried beans, rice, peas, pasta, and canned veggies and fruits, and donate them. We have a food basket at church that we put a item per week in. (lots of old folks at my church) Most usually do a can of veggies or fruit...me I think multiple meals and do the rice, dried beans, peas and pasta. Even throw in a box of Cheerios once in a while when I get it free. I’m a big coupon user for items we use. Sack of potatoes, onions, apples, can be done.

That way it is not crap food. Lots of types of dried beans. Even raisins or other dried fruits or baking nuts that are healthy. Ditto for doing baby food, cereals and jars of meat, fruit, veggies.

Yep, that’s really weird. Oh, well. The more inflated the debt regime, the sooner it will go away.

Most single seniors qualify for $10-30 in food stamps, not worth going for...Commodity line has tripled in the small town I came from, and mostly very old people, very few young. They get a few tins of veggies and fruit and maybe a jar of off brand peanut butter.

Illegal INVADERS is where the big FDA food stamp money is going now.

I understand they will no longer be called “food stamps” but will be called “nutrican stamps”.

Food stamps should be replace with a program where each county provides a building with a bakery and food processing equipment inside. If you want any of it, you have to go bake the bread, or bag the beans, process and bottle milk, or make cheese and churn butter. Only basic food staples, fruits and vegetables would be provided. The truly disabled can get theirs delivered. A token system can be devised that is only redeemable at that facility. Bake 200 loaves of bread, or deliver food to the disabled, get tokens for other product. It should be a pain in the butt to be on Govfood. If the ACLU complains about the food choices, say “We don’t prevent them from having steak, junk food and soft drinks. They can have all of that they want by paying full price at the grocery store.”

Exactly. Since 2009 I've noticed "EBT" cards being accepted at just about EVERY grocery store...middle level to high end. On a recent trip to Costco, there were many groups of non-English speaking "invaders" filling their carts up. They're living the American dream...on our dime, by invitation of Da One.

Larry Niven’s “Protector” book described “dole yeast”, if you’re down and out, it keeps you fed, but you find work because no one wants to eat it for long.

He may be conservative, but if he is telling you a tale like that, he certainly isn’t straight.

Since 2008, the food stamp program has been called SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Longer name, same ol’ scam. SNAP accounts for 80 percent of the spending called for in the new farm bill.
