Executive privilege, conceptually speaking, is a lot like the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution: Assert it, and folks assume that theres a coverup under way.
...In recent weeks, Justice officials have retracted earlier sworn statements including one this week that the operation began under the Bush administration.
All in all, it stinks on ice.

I believe every bit of that.
I believe that the two dead agents are the tip of the iceberg and that are probably many, many more...scores of Americans already dead as a result of this operation where the current local investigators simply do not have access to the data base to know that the guns were a part of the operation.
The only reason we really know what we know is because of whistleblowers inside the agency...otherwise we would not know about these two either IMHO.
And you can bet that this operation went all the way to the top for knowledge and aprroval.
When the data comes out...it will damning. I wowuld not mind that among the other horrible “forsts,”
OBama’s Horrific “Firsts” as President

That we ultimately have him be the first President who after his defeat in Novemebr is indicted and sent to prison, for that is exactly what he deserves.
And well protected.
Think “if those (s) he’s communicating with make it very public knowledge they are protecting him/her that would guarantee that any hair harmed on his/her head would point directly back to them,” would be the best protection. After all both Brian Terry and Jamie Zapata were armed.Knowledge by others can sometimes be the best protection
FBI Criminal Informant Complicit in Brian Terrys Death (PJM Exclusive)The rip crew was in Peck Canyon that evening with the intention of stealing money and drugs from a specific shipment of which they had prior knowledge.
(snip)
The rip crew knew to be in Peck Canyon that December evening because a CI working for the FBI found out about a smuggling run from the FBI.
(snip)
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) through its own CIs and communications intercepts was also aware of the planned assault.
Neither the DEA nor FBI warned Border Patrol about the expected criminal activity.
(snip)
The federal government will still not reveal if one of the two WASR-10 AK-pattern semi-automatic rifles located near the scene provided to the Sinaloa cartel via Operation Fast and Furious was the weapon that put a bullet through Brian Terrys heart. The existence of a third recovered gun, an SKS carbine, has been disputed by the FBI despite the fact it had been talked about openly in the beginning of the investigation among federal agents.
Multiple sources tell PJM that this third weapon disappeared because it was the weapon carried by the FBI CI who ran the rip crew. When it was recovered near the scene of the murder and subsequently traced by the ATF, it traced back to the FBI CI via the gun shop in Texas where it was purchased.
Brian Terrys murder was entirely preventable. The incompetence of the DEA and FBI let his Border Patrol unit walk into an ambush. After the ambush, it appears the FBI tampered with evidence to cover up that one of their informants was involved with the murder of a federal agent.
Dems are protesting, “But he held out longer than any other PORTS before playing the exec privilege card.”
Jon Stewart said it sounds like they are talking about losing virginity: “He held out as long as he could, but he just had to do it!”
Oops, it should say “any other POTUS.”
” I believe that the two dead agents are the tip of the iceberg and that are probably many, many more...scores of Americans already dead as a result of this operation where the current local investigators simply do not have access to the data base to know that the guns were a part of the operation.”
So do I.
LOL!
Add to that all of the hostile “act of war” aspects of the case, and the mind boggles.
This might be Hillary’s chance to jump ship. If a John Dean appears who appears ready to take down the Holder/Obama regime, that will be Hillary’s cue to say, “I can’t stand to serve under a president who lied to me and went behind the state dept to provide weapons to killers, blah blah blah.”
Murdergate might not bother her, of course, but it might provide an exit ramp for jumping ship, then reappearing just in time at the convention to replace him.
That and she's not getting any younger looking, she's tired, and never was exactly photogenic.
In a nutshell, the feds released some 2,500 firearms to Mexican drug-cartel members
The feds forced gun sellers to conduct illegal transactions to suppliers of cartels.
in an effort to track gun-trafficking patterns.
There was no tracking once they crossed the border, or sooner - except to run interference with LEO to let them through.
Other LE agents/agencies were either: not told or forbidden to interdict. US law officers in Mexico and Mexican officials were not informed at all.
The weapons vanished,
"Vanish" indicates you were watching or tracking. No one was. There was no surprise but a plan to "let them vanish on purpose."
The only way they would likely be seen again is when the cartels left them at the killing scene - as Justice knew they would - after the killers were gone.
The Operation's 'tracking' consisted of finding the guns purposefully left after they were used to kill.
This was the whole strategy of the operation - not to track or interdict, but find them after they had killed and the killers vanished.
How on earth does this serve any logical gun-tracking or interdiction purpose? It doesn't. Which means the purpose of the operation was something else.
“Hillarys cue to say, I cant stand to serve under a president who lied to me and went behind the state dept to provide weapons to killers, blah blah blah.”
Wow. Knowing the sceme Bill Clinton could put together, Romney may have to face Hillary after the DNC convention.
You can damn well bet that Bill and Hillary are discussing these options. We’re all just waiting for “John Dean.”
