Another sign Dems are writing off Obama

The grown-ups in the Democratic Party are looking beyond what they anticipate will be Barack Obama's single term, and positioning themselves to survive the aftermath. How else to explain the words of "Obama surrogate" Ed Rendell, former governor of Pennsylvania and Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Hillary Clinton acolyte? Bill McMorris of the Washington Free Beacon reports:

A top Obama surrogate said the president will not have to worry about a swooning media or crowds overcome by fainting spells in 2012.

"The media and the population saw him as this transformative figure [in 2008]; he was the first serious black candidate, a new, young, promising figure," said former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell. "People have sobered to that; the newness has faded and people now see him as another practical politician."

Rendell is known for being blunt, a theme he touches on in his new book, A Nation of Wusses, and a trait that has gotten him in hot water on the campaign trail.

Rendell was a passionate supporter of Hillary Clinton in 2008, and is reputed to remain close to both of the Clintons. As I wrote 11 days ago:

A little over 19 weeks until the election. Democrats (especially those in the administration) surely have an internal clock going off in their heads. If Barry can’t get it together at some set point (maybe 10 weeks out), these tag alongs are going to go seek work for other democrats....congressional campaigns, etc.

All those disgruntled Dems need to vote for Romney, just to show Obama the price of not being liberal enough ;-)

crowds overcome by fainting spells

This time around it will be small groups overcome by vomiting spells.

Usually we see the sitting President campaign for his party. I don’t see Zero doing that. Of course he is a self-centered little brat.

CLINTON WARNS DEMS And Democratic operative James Carville raised alarms about Obama's economic message in a memo co- written for Democracy Corps (first reported by POLITICO)."We will face an impossible headwind in November if we do not move to a new narrative, one that contextualizes the recovery but, more importantly, focuses on what we will do to make a better future for the middle class."

BOOK AUTHORED BY CARVILLE

Mmmmmm.....it seems like only yesterday.................

Late night comics are after him too. especially Leno. I rarely watch his show but saw it a couple of times this week as I've been travelling and not sleeping well. Last night Leno said this in his monologue:

"Have you heard that obama's campaign spent 6 million dollars more lsat month than they had in the bank?
That's right, he overspent by 6 million in one month.
No surprise there, he's a democrat, that's what they do.
"

I was fairly flabbergasted when I heard that.

I can’t stand Rendell, but like the cockroach he is a consummate survivor, and I think his observations on this sort of hard-knuckle politics are likely right-on.

miraculous arrival on the scene of Barack Hussein Obama and the perfect storm of events that propelled him into the White House

It did seem that he had supernatural backing, albeit evil.

If so, will events soon unfold to keep him in power?

0bammmy could try taking his filthy hands off the free enterprise system, for starters. But of course this will not happen as it is anathema to the dims. Absent something unknown of really HUGE scope, the headwinds will blow the little monkey out of his tree.

Ya, I remember that book. Carville was convinced that Democrats would rule for 40 years. What happened on the way to generations of Democrats running things???

Carville recently said that Obama and Democrats could actually lose this election. James, tell uss, what happened????

Good point.

From what I hear, Democrats are very worried about congressional and Senate elections. There are about 23 Democrats in the Senate up for re-election this year, vs. only about 10 Republicans. In a year which looks to be a bad year for Democrats, they are concerned about losing the Senate.

Democrats think they have a shot to win back the House, very narrowly, if it happens.

Point is, Democrats could easily strike out completely this year. They could lose the White House, and the Senate, and see the GOP retain control of the House.

If Obama appears to be going down, lots of Dem. operatives may want to put their efforts to elect Dems. elsewhere, rather than be part of Obama’s losing campaign.

Be kind to Carville. He was only off by 38 years.

After F&Fgate goes into the civil and criminal court system and is exposed for the scandal that it is, no sane person will want to be seen with a (D) next to their name.

Hasta la vista raton...
