In order to become President, Barack Obama had to swear to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. But three years later, I am disgusted with the disregard that the President continues to show to our Constitution.
Has he forgotten about the separation of executive, judicial and legislative branches found in our founding document? Our founders gave us a system of checks and balances so that one person could never seize more power than was provided in the Constitution.
President Obamas actions demonstrate that he thinks hes above the law. When he doesnt get his way, he creates new policies to his liking.
Under Obamacare, an even playing field doesnt exist for businesses. And President Obama must have recognized that, because he ordered his Health and Human Services Secretary to provide waivers from the healthcare overhaul. Unions, universities and restaurants in Nancy Pelosis district received waivers so that they didnt have to comply with the law.
Then we have the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Passed in 1996, DOMA is a federal law that defines marriage as being between one man and one woman. But earlier this spring, the administration said it will no longer defend the constitutionally of DOMA. So even though this law is on the books passed by Congress and signed into law by President Clinton President Obama just thinks we should ignore it.
Last week Obama threw the Constitution out the window again. Even through Congress disagreed, the President was happy to circumvent the Constitution in order to protect younger illegal immigrants from deportation and hand them work permits. He stands resolute in this position despite the fact that, a year prior, the President said this about immigration: Some people want me to bypass Congress and change the laws on my own. He continued, Thats not how our system works. Thats not how our democracy functions. Thats not how our Constitution is written.
Today, President Obama invoked executive privilege so Attorney General Eric Holder wouldnt have to turn over documents on Fast and Furious. That is not what executive privilege was intended for!
Where will the madness end? When will the President stop blatantly disregarding the Constitution?
Sadly, I dont think this President cares that he is ignoring the laws of our land. Nor, does he plan to curb his agenda. In fact, I expect things to only grow worse under this President. Thanks to an open mic in March, President Obama was caught telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he will have more flexibility in his second term.
The future of our country depends on making sure that the executive head of our nation knows he is subject to our laws and that he is under the Constitution.
Mr. President, I urge you, stop your autocratic reign; drop everything you are doing and read the Constitution. You will be well-served to remember the document that you swore to preserve, protect and defend
Direct taxation by the federal government is the problem to be resolved by turning back America's clock!
The 99 year old abomination is the 16th amendment, ushered in almost 100 years ago, immediately after the election of 1912 that gave us another academic socialist, Woodrow Wilson. The first check on run away spending from the federal government was their inability to have a direct source of revenue. Not the relationship between three branches. Yes the Congress represented the people, as you do today, and all revenue bills begin there. But the Senate even then represented the governors, as the senators were appointed, not elected. As they should be now. That bit of check and balance was erased by the 17th amendment, like the 18th also ratified during the term of Woodrow Wilson. It didnt take long for the people to realize the damage the nanny state was doing with the 18th Amendment. The time has come to focus on the 100th anniversary of the 16th amendment and recognize that there is no check on an imperial president that is willing to abuse the power that direct taxation has granted.
And it is not as if the country would suffer if the 16th was abolished. The states, like your own, would do well collecting revenue, distributing resources to programs approved and embraced by the voters of your state, and distributing excess receipts to fund minimal required federal expenses, while still holding Washington fiscally responsible. There would be no continuing resolutions if Washington had to get the money from the governors. The President would be sure to get a budget passed so he could collect the federal share from the states.
The way out of this mess for our country is to restore the balance the founders intended. The ultra-partisanship that so many complain about is the result of pushing all decisions to Washington. One size fits all never really does, so every decision comes down to a choice between two definitions of the one size, neither of which make all the supports of either side happy. All it does is perpetuate the power of Washington.
The U. S. will go the way of the former Soviet Union and break up without a shot being fired. $15 trillion in debt and $50 trillion in future unfunded liabilities. Game over.
People blame Obama. Obama is a symptom of the decline. He’s not the cause. The fact he was elected at all signaled to the rest of the world America was in decline and headed for 3rd World status. That’s why they celebrated.
Look at what Obama’s Kenyan campaigning did and what happened after the election. Violence and chaos until the Islamist he backed had a seat at the power table.
Expect the same here.
I agree that scraping the bottom of the Chicago sewer system to extracate a zero demonstrated to the world that the last light was to be thrown on America.
When he is stopped. These people are like alcoholics or drug addicts. They will do what they choose to do without regard for law, morality, or common decency, until someone actually STOPS them from doing it. No appeal to anything stops them. Only the removal of ability (by physical restraint or removal from authority) will actually stop them. And, of course, when you take that action, YOU'RE the bad guy.
I would love to see the repeal of the 16th and the 17th amendments, but we all know that’s a pipe dream. I would also love to see the ratification of “Article the First” concerning allotments of Representatives based on population.
The early 1900s did a LOT of damage to our Republic. The only true way to fix it is to disband the government, a role The People are allowed to play a part in, and start from scratch.
Bringing together all of the taxpaying, voter-age People in this country to be a part of the re-shaping of the American experience would be a wake up for those who are uninvolved and a refreshing exercise for those among us who are involved in it every day.
And before you flame me, I understand the gravity of what I’m asking, but I believe we’ve reached a point of no return and need this sort of American Revival to make America great again.
“Obamas Blatant Disregard for the Constitution is Appalling”
Why? That’s who this president is.
If you support a Nazi for president, he gets elected, and then he starts rounding up the Jews, is that “appalling” too?
Not to me. It’s who he is. A much better headline would be: “Obamas Blatant Disregard for the Constitution is not Surprising”.
(p.s., I’m not saying that Bachmann ever supported this president, I’m just saying that there are more effective titles)
We can vote him out of office - if we have elections and if they are not blatantly rigged. The sad thing is, even just five years ago I would have laughed at that kind of fear/statement. Today, I think there is a very real, non-zero chance that we may not have elections, or fair elections.
hussein will not stop until he is stopped. hussein is un-American and anti-American. We have to get rid of him, he will not go quietly nor reform his ways. He's becoming ever bolder, ever more desperate. Look for these trends to continue as the election gets closer. If it looks like he cannot/will-not win, things are going to get rough.
Gee Michelle, you tell us! As I recall, us useful idiots out here have no 'standing'. Apparently, the only thing we're good for is tax dollars. We don't even get to pick our own Presidential candidates so I'm really not sure why you're posing this question to us. It's up to you and your cohorts to do something about the Kenyan usurper and to date, you've all avoided him and his lawlessness like the plague. Is it any wonder that each edict is bolder than the last? He tests the water and all you people do is whine about how bad he's behaving. What exactly, do you expect us to do?
And it is not as if the country would suffer if the 16th was abolished. The states, like your own, would do well collecting revenue, distributing resources to programs approved and embraced by the voters of your state, and distributing excess receipts to fund minimal required federal expenses, while still holding Washington fiscally responsible. There would be no continuing resolutions if Washington had to get the money from the governors. The President would be sure to get a budget passed so he could collect the federal share from the states.
Brilliantly stated. I have been pondering this issue of states receiving their revenue from “we the People” vs the divided system now in place that splits state revenue between state taxes and Federal funding allowing the Federal Government to engage in uncontrolled blackmail of any state it so desires, by virtue of it’s out of control, control of the purse. The present system is if anything, criminal if not completely unconstitutional.
Amen Brother you hit the nail on the head.
Obama is without doubt the biggest POS to ever sit in the White House, but he is backed by every Democrat in the Congress, and half the Republicans.
Perhaps when Obama signs the UN treaty to take away our guns and the Congress agrees with him we will see a real cleansing of our Government of the dog crap that has made ruining our country their goal.
No taxation without Representation. I am being taxed ,but the crap in Congress is not representing me.
/p.s. - I'm a sister, LOL
"We're still working on gun control, but under the radar."
~~Pres. Obama to Sarah Brady
“/p.s. - I’m a sister, LOL”
...and just how is someone supposed to divine that information. LOL
liberalh8ter hasn’t created an about page.
Unfortunately, that's apparently what it takes, but what sleeps is waking up, despite their best efforts to keep us blissfully snoozing.
It could get interesting. We tend to wake up cranky.
Since Obama swore to “Defend the Constitution,” and has consistently sought to destroy it, Obama needs to be IMPEACHED.
liberalh8ter hasnt created an about page.
I know. Even if I did create a page, it wouldn't be gender specific. I don't think it's relevant......unless someone calls me 'brother' and even then, I only reveal my gender for the sake of honesty.
A lot of hyperbole here.
We will be rid of Obama in January if we vote for Romney in November.
We will also, God willing, be able to take the senate back.
Things will get better immediately.
With not a peep from the media, congress or the courts, Emperor Hussein I has become emboldened and will now rule be edict!
