Pelosi Statement on Contempt Vote on Attorney General Holder June 20, 2012
Washington, D.C. Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress:
From the start of this investigation, the Obama Administration has worked in good faith to provide the committee with necessary information to complete its work. Attorney General Holder has testified on this issue in nine different hearings and handed over thousands of pages of documents. Yesterday, in a meeting with bipartisan leaders from both chambers, the Attorney General offered to provide additional documents regarding the Fast and Furious initiative an offer rejected by Chairman Darrell Issa.
At the end of the day, the Chairman and committee Republicans refused to take yes for an answer. Instead, they are continuing to spend time on an issue gun-walking that we all agree should not be used, that dates back to the Bush Administration, and that ended under the Obama Administration. Its time for Republicans to focus on our nations top priorities: creating jobs, growing our economy, and strengthening our middle class.
PLEASE.....If they had evidence that they could have put Rove in jail they would have done it. Just ask Scooter Libby.
Well Nancy, you are singing a different tune than you were three years ago when it came to Alberto Gonzales
