President Obama has granted an 11th-hour request by Attorney General Eric Holder to exert executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents, a last-minute maneuver that appears unlikely to head off a contempt vote against Holder by Republicans in the House.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is expected to forge ahead Wednesday morning with its meeting on the contempt resolution anyway.
If the vote proceeds, Republicans have more than enough votes on committee to pass the resolution. However, Holder would not be considered held in contempt of Congress unless and until the full House approves the measure.

That is indeed interesting, but I believe it's much more that those records will show, and prove that F&F was in collaboration with well-known anti-2A groups; and by putting the hidden info together with WH visit records, it would show a consistent pattern of Bobo authorizing the illegal F&F gun smuggling for the nefarious purpose of ending 2A.
This is the reason they will go to such great lengths to avoid releasing the records to Rep. Issa -- because anti-2A polls miserably among everyone -- gun ranges are all the rage in hopelessly libtard places like Seattle, Portland, Silicon Valley (Zuckerberg is a hunter! Cazart!), Austin, you name it.

Definitely. The privilege can only be claimed for communications involving POTUS himself. Now the infection has gone all the way to the Oval Office itself. There was a SCOTS case during Watergate where SCOTUS held the privilege does not apply to allegedly criminal deliberations. That's how the WH tapes got revealed.
As of now, this has gone from an irritant to a really serious threat to the Illegal. It's clear to any reasonable person who's studied F&F that it was a murder conspiracy in service of gun grabbing from the get go. The whole idea was to walk the guns across the border, have them used to produce mass murder, and use that mayhem to argue for gun grabbing in violation of the 2d Amendment. This executive privilege claim proves the Illegal was up to his eyeballs in the whole murder conspiracy. The conspiracy would have failed without the murders; thus the Illegal, Holder, and all their accomplices knowingly intended and desired the murders, making them all legally MASS MURDERERS.
You are absolutely right. That was Nixon's mistake. He invoked it over the Watergate matter which suggested that he was involved in it from the beginning and that he had authorized the break in.
Obviously the documents requested will point the smoking gun in Obama's direction.
The question of the hour is whether or not the Congress has the guts to do anything about this? I doubt it. Obama will get away with it. The MSM, instead of pushing the investigation as they did in Watergate, will join with Obama in his attempts to cover it up.

A lot of Democrats will vote in the house for the contempt measure. Not for any noble motives, but because they are scared of the NRA. There are a lot of them from southern and midwastern states, who need a good NRA rating to win reelection, and know there are enough Pub votes to pass it anyway.
After watching the smarter Democrats today and their very tepid responses (for them) I'm convinced that Issa already has a smoking gun that has been leaked. Issa has the goods on Holder and Obama. And the Democrats know it.
Some people might think that Obama is doing a rope-a-dope here. That he is playing around in an election year. That he is asserting executive priviledge then he will revoke the assertion and nothing will be found that attaches Obama to F&F. But Obama has proved time and again he is not very bright. That plus his inexperience and want to not follow the law have finally caught up with him.
Obama is ripe for a take down. The interesting thing is that he might be taken down by his own. Obama is crashing so fast that the Democrats may help his downfall. He is becoming a big liability.
The Democrats look worried to me. And they should be.

I’m with you 100% on Obama being in favor of gun control. If he wanted to make his perverted point of mass murder, it would have had a lot more effect if the blood baths were right here in this country. There are plenty of criminals and gangs that could be manipulated to “support” his point far more than the death of a single border agent. (Apology in support of discussion).
Why would our government need to be involved with drug lords who could just purchase whatever they wanted here and payoff Mexican border guards on their own? I still think that these guns could be in the hands of Muslim extremists...although there is nothing in your correspondence that I disagree with.

The conventional wisdom is that it would be too difficult to hide such a gun walking operation domestically. Since it is much easier [much] to remain covert while working w/ foreign criminals and similar results were expected, it was decided to go in that direction.

It tells us Obama was personally involved and committed impeachable offenses. And Holder no doubt let him know that he would have to spill the beans if Obama didn't invoke executive privilege.
