Ignoring the moral, legal, and tax implications for the moment...what are the physical *mechanics* involved of pulling $1.5 Million out of ATM’s?
That’s 75,000 $20 bills. He would have had to drive all over the city visiting ATMs to get that.
Yeah, you gotta wonder. I'm sure a lot of driving was involved.
yeah...how do you pull 300K from an ATM. Do ATMs even have 300K in them? I doubt it...even at a casino.
Had the same thought. ATM's around here only have $20 bills. Maybe Vegas casinos have higher denominations?
“The day the Bank of America glitch went into effect, Page reportedly withdrew $312,000 from ATMs at the Greektown Casino in Detroit and an additional $51,727 from the MGM Grand Casino. “
Nearly $400,000 the first day.
I’m guessing the ATMs were loaded with a lot of “hundreds”.
Even at that, $400k is 40 bundles of $100 bills.
My thoughts too. The most Navy Federal allows me to pull out of an ATM is 600 a day and not a cent more.
Well, they said it took 17 days for the bank to catch the error, so I would suppose he was running all around town, cleaning out every ATM he could find each day. I’m sure you could get at least 5 or 10 grand per machine, so it probably wouldn’t take that long to get 100k per day.
100,000 per month
~3334 per day
11 $300 transactions per day.
Multiple ATMs
Now...to make 11 trips to the ATM each day....
You gotta be drunk, stupid to gamble it all away that fast.
Most ATMs have a “Would you prefer a Million Dollar Bill” button for large withdrawers. I’ve used it several times myself.
Great minds and all that rot; was thinking the same thing.
Someone else can chime in if they want but my ATM has a $200 PER DAY limit.
Now he may have used his debit card in machines in casino(s) but can't imagine how he could have "withdrawn" that much cash in 17 days?
My guess is this was done at the casino. They probably have a whole wall of ATMs and they probably hold lots more cash than a standard ATM and get refilled by the hour. Another possibility is he went to a teller window inside the casino and made his withdrawls directly in chips and never touched any currency.
