But they can not prove absence of malice.

Similar, but different. WaWa and Sheetz (a similar business) are gas stations. You fill up your car and (they hope) you come in for a snack. There are usually about a half dozen touch pads around. You pick through a bunch of menus; do you want Hot or Cold food? Snacks or a Sandwich? Snacks will take you to a screen where you pick from things like nachos, what toppings you like, etc. There is an entire menu for different bagels. Hoagies or Sandwiches is another set of menus. Pick your bread, meat, toppings, double meat, etc. Then there are the Pizza’s, Burritos, etc. There are so many different choices the menu would take up the whole wall. With the keypads multiple people order whatever they want and within minutes someone calls their number with the food. In the meantime you can pick out a drink or a bag of chips or other snacks and pay for your items even before the food is ready. It works very well.

The name of that game seems to be get the gas pumpers into the store. A gas/convenience store near me offers an 8 cents/gallon discount IF you go into the store to pay.

It sound like a lot but in practice it’s less than a buck on a tank fill up. Pretty clever since most people are bound make some impulse buy 3 or 4 times that much.

Even if they hadn’t selectively edited it, I have to say: is that the best they can come up with? I’m no “out of touch millionaire”, but I’ve never seen a sandwich ordering machine in my life. They are not exactly as ubiquitous as grocery checkout scanners.

The advantage would seem to be that you don’t have to wait behind someone who is trying to make up their mind what they want on their sandwich. There are several machines, as I understand it, and if you know what you want, you can place your order quickly. You still have to wait for the person behind the counter to build your sandwich.

And you still have to wait at the cash register for the G.D. idiot to buy his lottery tickets.

In all seriousness, it is amazing, ordering via this screen. Here's what comes to mind immediately: - you can see everything that's offered, you don't have to hope that the new guy behind the counter knows what he's talking about - no transcription errors - you can see what extras are free and what other extras cost - I think it's quicker to use the screen than to talk to somebody - at another chain like this called Sheetz (central to southeast PA at least) you can order all kinds of side dishes (french fries for example) as well. it works the same way for breakfast stuff too - when they're running a special, you see it as a page as part of the process. you don't have to remember that you saw an ad on TV

Exactly right. The trick is to get folks inside. That said, the food is good, fast and priced right. And the ordering system works great.

When NBC made that huge mistake and had to deal with that Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien fiasco. They decided to take Conan off the air before his contract was up.....and Conan says in one of his monologues, “If NBC doesn’t want anyone to watch me...why don’t just leave me on NBC.” I thought that was perfect.

Weren’t they also the network that planted an explosive device on a vehicle in order to “prove” that the vehicle would explode when it crashed into another car?

That was ABC (the All Barak Channel) putting (IIRC) Estes rocket engines in “sidesaddle” tanks on pickup trucks. This “proooooooved” that the tanks would catch fire in a side-impact collision.

(If I remember incorrectly I am SURE someone will set me right.)

The Leno monologue I just watched was his 20th year anniversary for the Tonight Show on NBC.

He said for alot of talented network artists have come and gone in that period.

Including himself.

As an aside, it never ceases to amaze me how that insecure bastard Letterman tries to bash Leno anytime he can.
