Now we learn Obama raised in Singapore? 1990 Vanity Fair article contradicts Indonesia narrative

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – On the heels of the discovery of a 1991 publicity brochure stating Barack Obama was born in Kenya comes the unearthing of a 1990 Vanity Fair article stating Obama grew up in Singapore, not in Indonesia.

In both instances, the question immediately arises: Who was the source of the information that contradicts Obama’s accepted narrative?

In the case of the “born in Kenya” brochure, it’s almost certain that Obama was the source,

The author of the Duckworth article, like the literary agent, tried to take the blame for this, claiming he found this birth location on the Internets ... and of course, no specific site was ever provided by the reporter to back this up. I bet Obama told this birth location to Duckworth himself and that she told the reporter where she thought Obama was born.

And how about this one? In this one, the OBots blamed the writer Guira for sloppiness that Obama was born in Queens hospital instead of Kapiolani medical center.

Everyone is sloppy who get it wrong instead of Obama. LoL.

Looks like Vanity Fair needs a geography lesson...but it does remind one of LIA saying that Stanley Ann had to go away somewhere and promised to bring back a brother for her, and we never did find out where she went. (or when)

You haven’t heard of Lia? Neither had we. The unknown, until now, adopted sister of Barack Hussein Obama died unexpectedly February 26, 2010. The USA media didn’t cover the story of this woman nor was her name found until the last few days. A competent WTPOTUS sleuth, Leza, and other researchers uncovered an article about an adopted “kakak” (literally “older sibling”, often translated as “brother”) in Indonesia, named Lia or Lee. Following up on a tidbit of information and other clues, more information was uncovered. Lia was an adopted sister, not a brother. Two Indonesian obituaries were just found. These tell the final tale of this woman nicknamed Lia, whom Obama called “Mbak Nun”.

After living with Lolo and Ann for awhile, “Eny” [Annie] promised to give her a sister who would keep her company. Ann told her, ” Stay well, I’ll pick up your brother Barry.” Two years later, Barry left Hawaii and went to Indonesia to live with Lolo, his mother, and Lia. Lia remembered that Obama was four years younger than she.

There was a Fogger who used to post here who blamed the Queen’s citation on the reporter using wikipedia. He had a meltdown when I showed there was information in that story that wasn’t on wikipedia and could have only come from Obama’s sister ... plus it was published where she worked, meaning if it was wrong, she had plenty of opportunity to get it corrected right away. It’s always someone else’s fault. Amazing how many incompetent people write stories about Obama. Must be a record.

Is Duckworth suggesting a sloppy search on "the Internets" in 1990? Presuming that a reporter working for Vanity Fair had access to an Internet forerunner searchable information network (Lexis?), how many hits would have come back with Singapore as the location of dude's rearing (I did not see the article mention place of birth), considering he was then a fairly obscure, if upcoming personage?

I want to see the original interview notes. ;)

No, I probably wasn’t clear. The Duckworth story was written by a Honolulu reporter in 2006. He blamed the birth in Indonesia claim on an Internet search and not on Tammy Duckworth making the claim. What isn’t clear is how a famous “native son” like Obama wasn’t known to this reporter or why he would have to search the Internet to see where he was born. Further, what site would have said Obama was born in Indonesia in 2006?? He had already made a famous speech at the Democrat National Convention in 2004.

My main point was that the Honolulu reporter took the blame for this born in Indonesia “mistake” the same way the literary agent recently took the blame for the born in Kenya claim from 1990.

Actually it was also a failure of reading comprehension on my part, because I saw the word "article" in your sentence and keyed in on that to the exclusion of "Duckworth" and so ASSumed you were referring to Alise O'Shaughnessy who authored the 1990 Vanity Fair piece.

It's of course easy to see why I might confuse "Duckworth" and "O'Shaughnessy since they're so similar.

Interesting claims from the Vanity Fair story:

The sense of mission derives in part from his experiences in the Third World. He saw brutal poverty while growing up in Singapore with his mother, an anthropologist, and his half-brothers and -sisters in Kenya still live hand to mouth at times.

Obama "saw" brutal poverty in Singapore (Indonesia) and THAT gave him a "sense of mission"?? His half-brother and half-sister still live hand to mouth?? So one would think he would go back to Singapore (Indonesia) or to Kenya to fight poverty, but no, he's going "to tackle the quagmire of America’s inner cities." Here's the ironic quote:

Federal money alone won’t do it, he argues.

What happened to THAT Obama who didn't think Federal money alone would solve the problems?? Then this next quote is another doozy:

Obama ... responds warily to the assumption that he himself will run for office. “If I go into politics it should grow out of work I’ve done on the local level, not because I’m some media creation.”

Wow, talk about total hypocrisy.
