Something’s up at J.C. Penney.
After the closing bell, the department-store operator announced President Michael Francis was leaving, effective today, after only eight months on the job.
Shares dropped 6.5% in after-hours trading to $22.75 in after-hours trading. The stock is down nearly 50% since early February.

I have always liked JCP because they are moderately priced and they have a Big and Tall section - anyone that doesn’t carry 2XLT is of no use to me. What I don’t understand though is that they do not carry mens’ underwear bigger than XL......are fat people supposed to go without drawers? I have to get them at Wally World.
Let’s see if they rethink the idea that pandering to 2% of the population (with a large chunk of the 2% that wouldn’t be caught dead in a JCP) is a fabulous plan....though they are probably just fishing for a bailout from the first queer president.

That's funny that you mention that. I was with a friend (who looks just like Fred Flintstone with the personality & character of George on Seinfeld) when he went to JCP for the same reason. Big and Tall. He also complained that they don't sell the underwear.

That is one reason I don’t shop at Penney’s plus, if you have been in a store lately, they look like a bargain basement store. My friend told about going to one over the weekend, she said they don’t intend to go back. Absolutely shoddy display of items.

this wasn’t just a momentary lapse of judgement or a miscalculation, it was death sentence. The JCP brand does not make it 12 months from today.
Walmart and Target have lapped them while they were trying to pander to a demographic that will never justify the effort.

AFIK the only gays at JCP are the ones who dress the windows and design the displays. The clothes and other items are far too low budget and Plebian to attract the refined tastes of the AIDS bunch.

JC Penney is a once-great company that has gone rapidly downhill over the past several years. Their pandering to gays in recent months is further evidence of just how far they’ve fallen. Their focus on gay couples in their advertising, along with the hiring of Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson, is nothing more than a misguided act of desperation. They’ve alienated a large segment of their customer base, which will only serve to hasten the demise of the company.
For Dad’s day they can buy each other boxers with holes in the back.
