Florida politics produces very few no-brainer issues. There are even fewer when you can choose whether you want to side with logic or with criminal behavior.
Today’s no-brainer is the progressives’ argument against voter identification, perhaps the most irresponsible position in Florida politics today.
Gov. Rick Scott is not backing off a pledge to clear Florida’s voter rolls of non-citizens who illegally registered to vote. When the governor received word that the U.S. Department of Justice intends to sue Florida to stop its efforts to “purge” voter rolls, he announced he would sue the Obama administration to force the Department of Homeland Security to give Florida access to an immigration database that can confirm an individual’s citizenship status. A defiant Scott, stonewalled for nine months, is demanding that DOJ and other federal agencies immediately provide Florida with the tools it needs to identify dead and foreign voters still on the rolls...
Beside the point, I'd be curious to know if Jeb Bush has commented on this issue...

“If the effect of the NVRA (Motor Voter) is to force a state to allow never-eligible non-citizens the opportunity to vote,” he wrote, “then the statute might violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution, which guarantees that the right to vote cannot be denied by a dilution of the weight of a citizen’s vote.”
As for the Voting Rights Act claim, Detzner wrote, Florida already received federal permission to remove noncitizens, which is clearly spelled out in Florida law.
What’s more, the Voting Rights Act applies to only five Florida counties — Monroe, Hillsborough, Collier, Hardee and Hendry — and not the other 62 in Florida, including Miami-Dade, where about 1,600 of the 2,700 potential noncitizens were initially identified by the state in a database created by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
About 500 people in Miami-Dade have been found to be lawful citizens and voters, and 13 noncitizens have been found. Two of them might have voted and could face prosecution. The county has been unable to verify the citizenship of more than 1,100 others.
Assuming the purge halts, those people could vote this year — even if some are noncitizens.
"Not a single eligible voter as far, as I know, has been removed from the voter rolls," Scott said Wednesday on WNDB radio in Daytona Beach, according to a News Service of Florida transcript. "Not one. And we’re working to keep it that way."
"Their vote should not be diluted by people who don’t have the right to vote," Scott said. "We need to be reviewing our voter rolls and making sure only those individuals who have the right to vote … are voting."
“This hardly seems like an approach earnestly designed to protect the integrity of elections and to ensure that eligible voters have their votes counted,” said the letter, written by Scott’s hand-picked secretary of state, Ken Detzner, a fellow Republican.
Detzner also submitted a list of four questions that he wants the DOJ to answer:

"Screaming mad" is not even close to the anger and anguish I heard. They are more up in arms about this than the SC decision that put corporations on equal footing with the unions regarding campaign contributions.

Good idea.
Gov. Scott should issue an executive order (after all, the First Dictator does it all the time) stating that everyone flushed from the voter rolls must appear in person to re-register. This would keep the most egregious non-English-speaking illegals, the New Yorkers who are registered in both states, and the dead from voting....in other words, the traditional Democrat voters.
Governor Scott is right on. The Democratic Party has spent years to figure out how to pad the election. I consider the Democratic Party the Communists Party. They treat the election as a game and seem to be willing to cheat any way they can and feel justified.

What’s to understand? It’s simply the RATs doing what they need to to to remain in power. If the RATs ever really came right out and told the country point blank what their “vision “ is, they would not ever win another election even with massive voter fraud.
Exactly. Liberal opposition to voter roll integrity is about as transparent as their anti-Americanism gets.

The Florida voting rolls are a joke. Rick Scott is a hero for trying to do something about it.
Jeb bush thinks the far right has taken over because HE can’t be nominated as easily as he had in the past.
