Last Thursday's same-old, same-old economic speech, which turned even liberal journalists on President Obama, came just days after a memo from Bill Clinton consigliore Jim "it's the economy, stupid" Carville and his pollster associate Stan Greenberg on "Shifting the Economic Narrative."
The spin was that the memo was practically Reaganesque in its advice that Obama look forward. But read it, especially its wild observation that "It is elites who are creating a conventional wisdom that an incumbent president must run on his economic performance and therefore must convince voters that things are moving in the right direction."
The Great Communicator, of course, famously asked while debating Jimmy Carter, "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"
But less famously, debating Democratic nominee Fritz Mondale, with a record as president to defend, he also said, "I think that most of the people in this country would say, yes, they are better off than they were four years ago."
Reagan even upped the ante, saying, "The question, I think, should be enlarged: Is America better off than it was four years ago? And I believe the answer to that has to also be 'yes.'"
But never mind Reagan. How about The Man From Hope? The Ragin' Cajun wasn't telling President Clinton in 1996 not to "run on his economic performance" and "convince voters that things are moving in the right direction."
Slick Willie never stopped talking about the "Bridge To The 21st Century" he was busy building. "I'm proud of the fact that America is stronger and more prosperous and more secure than we were four years ago," Clinton said while debating Republican nominee Bob Dole. "And I'm glad we're going in the right direction."

I will be very surprised if Hitlery Clintonista does not challenge at the convention.
“I will be very surprised if Hitlery Clintonista does not challenge at the convention.”
I’m thinking that since the SS Purge, the best she could hope to “demand” would be VP.
And the Wookie allegedly disapproved the last time that subject arose.

If something like this were in the mix, I think we would be seeing a much more intense criticism of BO by the Dems right now. Accompanied by much more anti-BO editorials in the leftist MSM. It is hard to measure the breaking point of the DemoRATS. Obama has already jumped the shark and he is taking down America, but also the DemoRAT party off the same cliff......so, what’s next?
Well, I’m sticking to my guns. I am employed at a UAW mfg. plant and the rank and file has had it with the mooslim in chief.
“it’s your economy now, stupid”
Well, Im sticking to my guns. I am employed at a UAW mfg. plant and the rank and file has had it with the mooslim in chief.
Will they still vote for him?

That’s great to hear, but how about union bosses? Are they still donating heavily to him or do you know?
Will rank and file still vote they way union bosses “encourage” them to? Or do you think they’re on the ABO train?
Thanks for the insight!

Could you please explain “sticking to my guns” and do you think the majority of the UAW folks around you will vote to get rid of him ???
The privacy of the voting booth........
Some will vote Romney and never say a word.
The union chiefs are card carrying commies one and all. I believe the rank and file is turning on the Burlap Insane Obummer.
I have said this as much as one year ago, the dems, I believe, will slip in someone else. Some way, somehow.
Thanks Exnavy, that’s great to hear!
Have to disagree. Clinton is no dummy and he is laying the ground work for 2016. Clinton knows that if Obama wins reelection that it will be a full generation before another democrat becomes president. He figures that it would be better to run against Romney in 2016 than a failed Obama term. Clinton is playing the odds. He will continue to do what he can to be the "good" team player but he will also throw out the barbs that he hopes will sink Obama. For Clinton it is all about getting back in the WH.
"With Dmitri's compliments..."
If this communist is reelected there will be a full blown revolution. The democrat party will not survive that.
We are on the verge of global economic collapse, the Clintoons know this.
If Obama-lama-ding-dong is reelected, the world is in danger.
The same hazards apply to all nations China and Russia included. The global economy has placed the nations like dominoes.
I too believe that union membership are ready to rock the leaderships boat!
Those of us who have worked hard, paid our dues, and watched the dems steal our retirement funds, are ready for major payback!
