More than 100 jubilant college students and graduates -- some of them undocumented -- rallied in downtown Los Angeles on Friday in support of President Obama's decision to halt deportations of young illegal immigrants.
At the L.A. Civic Center, the demonstrators chanted, We are the Dreamers, the mighty, mighty dreamers and moved off the sidewalk and sat in a long train blocking Aliso Street, from Los Angeles Street to Alameda Street. They were also blocking entrance ramps to the 101 Freeway.
Celebratory chants and speeches could be heard outside the federal building at Los Angeles and Aliso streets after the Obama administration announced the policy that will affect young undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. before they turned 16.
"Ain't no power like the power of the people 'cause the power of the people dont stop, demonstrators chanted. Others yelled, "Obama you can court us, but you can't deport us."
"This is a moment of celebration. This is a step forward in the right direction, said Dulce Matuz, 27, an electrical engineering graduate who attended college in Arizona.
"But we need to keep fighting for long-term legislation."

Frankly what Obama did yesterday pretty much sealed his election fate. Can you say “President-Elect Mitt Romney?”
I agree. Hussein really cannot do much more to ensure every single R voter turns out than he's already done, but I'm sure he'll try.
So, they just got a free pass to be allowed to stay in the greatest country in the world and make their way without the demands of full citizenship, and they reward this by blocking traffic in our highways?
Little sh*ts should have stayed home and kept their mouths shut. Excuse me if I don’t share in their excitement.
I’m already sick of their entitlement attitude.
I'd settle for Rep. Issa myself ..... not Peter King or Eric Cantor, they have the stink of NWO Crown Princedom on them ........ but there are plenty of other conservatives ready to lead. Who wouldn't do what Boehner did, when he looked Michele Bachmann in the eye after the Tea Party had just made him Speaker of the House, and shut her totally out, saying, "It's not your turn."
(Hint: It's never our turn.)
I'd show them that that 101 offramp leads all the way to Tijuana.
Actually, I wasnt slamming the Police.
Neither was I. Its the Federal Government/political machine who wants them there. Why else would they intervene/overrule? any chance they get when states try to enforce the laws that already exist?
Thanks for posting the translation list!
I would also like to hear the words, “Vice-President Elect Allan West.”
These 800,000 or so American educated Mexicans should be the first to be deported and strictly forbidden to return. Perhaps such a large influx of learned minds might encourage them to struggle to make their own country a place suited for their culture instead of leeching off the fast-disappearing business and taxpaying base of America.
According to DOJ they don't need no stinkin ID to vote.
I think that if people had any guts, they should have run those cockroaches over.
Ohhhh...could you imagine? That is indeed the stuff dreams are made of.
You’re welcome, my eastern neighbor cheesehead FRiend! As well you should be proud of Gov. Walker. I wish we had someone with his spine here in the People’s Republic of Minnesota. I have the utmost respect for the man.
Who knows? A few cartoons might make some of our congress grow a pair..
