WASHINGTON -- Republican Sen. Marco Rubio-- whose reaction to the Obama administrations immigration order will likely be one of the most closely watched of his party-- issued a carefully worded statement Friday that called for helping young illegal immigrants but criticized the presidents approach.
There is broad support for the idea that we should figure out a way to help kids who are undocumented through no fault of their own, but there is also broad consensus that it should be done in a way that does not encourage illegal immigration in the future, the Florida senator said. This is a difficult balance to strike, one that this new policy, imposed by executive order, will make harder to achieve in the long run.
Todays announcement will be welcome news for many of these kids desperate for an answer, but it is a short-term answer to a long-term problem, he added. And by once again ignoring the Constitution and going around Congress, this short-term policy will make it harder to find a balanced and responsible long-term one.

Maybe Marco (Juan McCain) Rubio really isn’t a citizen. He sure as hell has no understanding of the separation of powers clause in the Constitution.
Apparently you are very often amazed.
Well, well, well, the issue that drove the RepubLICKans out of control of the house and Senate back around 2006 or so - illegal immigration - rears its ugly head again.
I want these invaders OUT of MY COUNTRY! Is that so hard for the Republican party to understand?
Alas, both parties see the constitution as a bunch of suggestions (the GOP a little less often than the Democrats, but still...).
Hey, if these kids are too spoiled to live in Mexico from whence they were brought, then offer a class, Living In Mexico 101, for them. Mexico considers them Mexicans anyhow.
It took me years to “follow due process and become a citizen”
Put these kids at the end of the damn line and if they don’t like that send them home.
thinking........
Just send them home, I am so tired of criminal behavior being rewarded. Damn tired
Well, if he has now arrogated the powers of a dictator who promotes the rights of lawbreakers over US citizens, what's to stop him from deciding to toss US citizens out of the country (or throw them in jail, or worse)?
Oh skeeter, no.. Takes alot to amaze me. I have lived many years and been active in Texas politics for a long time. I have worked for and with politicians and the Republican party here. Takes alot to amaze me. I just do not understand the changes here. First we were aghast at perjury. Now, we favour perjury. First, we were condemning politicians for waiting to see which way the wind blows. Now we are for it. Next, dogs and cats will be sleeping together. What do I know?
Well dog my cat!
More than your posts reveal, I'm sure.
His response is a joke.
I just emailed Romney to forget Rubio as VP..no soup for you if you select Rubio.
Rubio is a scumbag. Hopefully this latest gaffe, this pat on the back for Ubama, will end for good any talk about Rubio filling Romney’s VP slot. I will not be voting for Romney under any circumstances, but I am hoping that his VP choice will at least give me something to be hopeful about if Mittens wins.
Too late he has already had America citizens killed without arresting them or trying them in court.
And while you are at it, don't let Limbaugh and the "obama is going to lose by a landslide" crowd or the "Democrats are worried" crowddelude you into a false sense of security.
Barring Divine intervention, obama will win the election. The Democrats are not the least worried about their chances of winning in November. Why? They know that the Republican Party will and has done everything in its power to bring it about. If they thought Romney had a snowflake's chance in hell of beating obama, he would not have been ordained by them. And they also have the fool, traitor, parasite, and self hating White Liberal vote sewed up.
LOL...I need one of those!
Oh, goodness. I do hope so, skeeter.

If you are particularly outraged, you may call both.
If you wait for Mittens to please you with a Veep choice, you will be holding out your hand for crumbs. And whether it be now or later, he will make you wish you had never voted for this backstabbing Rino.
Help conservatives down ticket and call it a day.
I doubt this was an off-the-cuff dumb statement by Rubio. Could end up as another "eat the dog" moment for Zero.
If a 3 year old is carried across the border by his/her parents, the parents are definitely committing a criminal act and should be treated as such. However, the child is another matter. Personally, I believe that, under the law, the child has not committed a "crime." However, I also believe that upon their 18th birthday, if they choose to remain in the United States knowing that they do not have legal status, they have committed a crime and are illegal. As a fellow member of the bar I would think that Sen. Rubio sees that as an issue too. I would also agree with him that how you handle that issue should not be the subject of presidential fiat but belongs within the purview of congress.
In reading Sen. Rubio's statement, and not just the headlines of the main stream media's interpretation of his statement, I think he is pointing out that while there may be an issue there to consider, congress should be the ones to act on it and it is dangerous for the president to be issuing these decrees unilaterally. I really don't see the problem with the statement.
