Obama immigration plan may spare 800,000 from deportation

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives. The election-year initiative addresses a top priority of an influential Latino electorate that has been vocal in its opposition to administration immigration policies and a record number of deportations last year.

The policy change, announced Friday by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation. It bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the so-called DREAM Act, a long-sought but never enacted plan to establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who attend college or have served in the military.

The move comes in an election year in which the Hispanic vote could be critical in tossup states like Colorado, Nevada and Florida that could go either Republican or Democratic. While President Barack Obama enjoys support from a majority of Hispanic voters, Latino enthusiasm for the president has been tempered by the slow economic recovery, his inability to win congressional support for a broad overhaul of immigration laws and by his administration's aggressive deportation policy.

Activists opposing his deportation policies last week mounted a hunger strike at an Obama campaign office in Denver, and other protests were planned for this weekend.

Obama plans to address the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials' annual conference next week in Florida. Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney is scheduled to speak to the group on Thursday.

Obama immigration plan may spare 800,000 from deportation

Can we now finally deport the other 11.2 million (or whatever the real number is)? No? I didn't think so.

I want to get the opinion of an actual Constitutional lawyer, but I’m inclined to agree.

He actually had the gall to say he had to do this because the Republicans kept blocking his immigration bill.

THAT’S HOW IT WORKS YOU MARXIST FAGGOT!

There are counter-measures available inclluding impechment hearings and refunding. Or even - how about this one - why not at least one member of congress express some outrage? Can we even get that much out of these wimps on our side?

I've actually heard illegals say, "Well, I HAD to come in illegally. You Americans make it too hard to come in legally." It's like saying, "I HAD to break into your house to rob you. It's your fault. You drove me to it by having that lock on your door."

The Congress pansies are *still* formulating their response, and it is the very reason head OBot came out with this on Friday to slow down the criticism.

That’s a great analogy, but I’d change it in one small way.

“I HAD to break into your house to rob you. It’s your fault for having all those nice things like a TV and a laptop and an iPad and iPhone. I HAD to rape your wife, because mine weighs 200 pounds and has a moustache. You drove me to do all these things!”

800,000 my @$$! It would be “cruel” to deport their “parents” who brought them here against their will. And then there are those uncles, aunts and cousins who want to be here to watch them “graduate” or take their big G.E.D. test. Of course, we can’t leave out their poor, grandparents still “back home” who haven’t seen them in years and “miss them very much”. What a coup! The communist ‘RAT party is going to be busy registering a whole new crop of millions of ‘RAT voters requiring freebies paid for by the American taxpayers. Americans are the big losers here. Foreign nationals are the big winners.

So is one to think that the US Military Services has taken in illegal immigrants that will need to benefit from this new dictate?

There is already a program in the military that allows non-citizens to openly serve with citizenship a reward for a good service record.

My thoughts: This is not really about Immigration. This is about setting a precedent to rule by executive order ahead of the SC decision. My prediction is he is setting the stage for explaining that he had to act in order to protect health care for all.

Bill Clinton got the ball rolling on this with motor voter.
When you get a drivers licence, you get registered to vote.
Illegal alien? No Problemo.
Couple a years back, I went to renew my licence.
The place was packed with people spilling outside.
I was the only english speaker in the crowd.

Motor Voter was a knife in the back of America. It is required that anyone getting a license, food stamps or free medical assistance be asked if they want to register to vote. EVERY TIME THEY APPLY! What do they expect the illegals to say, “NO?” Motor voter needs to be repealed.
